- Stevanoski, on 11/21/2008, -54/+4Why do atheist capitalize the G in God when they are hoping to justify their non belief but use the lower case when they post any comments about Him? Just another trick their father of lies has taught them to use?
- h4sh1sh, on 11/21/2008, -4/+45You capitalize G in God because it is a proper noun dumbass. Needless to say when writing fiction authors capitalize 'Hercules' and 'Moby Dick' as well even though they don't exist.
- Stevanoski, on 11/21/2008, -12/+3I agree, but many here on Digg use the lower case, take up your vitriol with them.
- groo68, on 11/21/2008, -0/+7When they use lowercase it means that they don't know grammar, there is no deeper meaning.
- jfsimard79, on 11/21/2008, -8/+1Yeah but you don't capitalize dog do you. A god is just a god, not a God.
- donkevin, on 11/21/2008, -1/+7No, because your dog's name isn't dog. If it were, you would call him Dog.
- TheOneTrueGod, on 11/22/2008, -0/+1But I do, damned.
- CoreyTamas, on 11/21/2008, -11/+4Atheists? Father of lies?
I hope you enjoy being dugg down to H-E-double-hockey-sticks. - brinewr, on 11/21/2008, -11/+3What a Butt-munch! That's Christian love for you! Turn the other cheek. Oh! but maybe that's hard with your head up your ass!
- synergye, on 11/21/2008, -2/+12what the ***** does "their father of lies" mean?
- TMTurtle, on 11/21/2008, -2/+9Satan.
Apparently atheists are satanists. I didn't know this. - captainanndor, on 11/21/2008, -1/+2Anyone who does not follow "God" in the exact same way Stevanoski follows "God" is a god-less heathen which means they worship the devil.
So even if you're not an atheist, you're still a satanist if you're not the same specialized branch of religion.
- TMTurtle, on 11/21/2008, -2/+9Satan.
- captainanndor, on 11/21/2008, -1/+3Depends on the context.
In a polytheistic setting, it's a regular noun. Like the Roman gods. I dunno, maybe it's still supposed to be capitalized there. Zeus is a god. I feel fine with a lower case G.
In a monotheistic context, though, it's a proper noun, like h4sh1sh said. So if I'm talking about Christianity, it's just the one guy, God. That and I was raised Catholic for a large chunk of my childhood, and even when I'm being pissy and feeling anti-religion, I still feel awkward not capitalizing the G, even though I've drifted away from organized religion (though not into atheism).
Or possibly because you touch yourself at night. One of the two. - Chassit, on 11/21/2008, -1/+3Why does Stevanoski have to ruin our fun by making idiotic comments that have nothing, whatsoever to do with the article at hand?
- rpelayo, on 11/21/2008, -1/+8Oh my god Stevanoski, you are so right about God. You have healed my heathen atheist ways. Thanks to you I have seen the light.
Oh, and I dugg you down.- ThinkExist, on 11/21/2008, -2/+0Haha rpelayo took the exact words out of my mouth.
- styx31989, on 11/22/2008, -1/+2you just failed so hard, Stevanoski.
- TheOneTrueGod, on 11/22/2008, -3/+1@Stevanoski:
To claim that you know the truth more than atheists is to lie. In fact, the father of your information is the father of lies.
Atheists question stuff, they don't just swallow teachings like they were truth. Religious people like you are without consciousness. And mindless machines are a burden to the world and to my very soul. Say I, the one true God. No really. I am God. THE one.
And I prefer atheists over religious people. Because they are reasonable instead of wicked. Now go talk to a person that you imagine and hope that it changes reality according to your wishes, you wacko.
Calling the sane ones followers of Satan while following Satan himself... another ***** victim of the lie prince.
- h4sh1sh, on 11/21/2008, -4/+45You capitalize G in God because it is a proper noun dumbass. Needless to say when writing fiction authors capitalize 'Hercules' and 'Moby Dick' as well even though they don't exist.
- SpinAlley, on 11/21/2008, -12/+6August 1!
But still dugg for photo of God.- humperdinck, on 11/21/2008, -2/+172001
- TMTurtle, on 11/21/2008, -0/+5Why would someone submit an article over seven years old? Christ.
- Ganpachi, on 11/21/2008, -3/+2for the same reason 262 people dugg it.
They have no taste.
- humperdinck, on 11/21/2008, -2/+172001
- butterz730, on 11/21/2008, -7/+1Great, now anyone with a game console or PC can be the new Jesus!
- writer0213, on 11/21/2008, -13/+2At what point did video game characters start wondering about anything?!
- groo68, on 11/21/2008, -0/+5When they were able to use that 8th cell on the cell processor that is supposed to be turned off.
- coyote1284, on 11/21/2008, -0/+4When people stopped recognizing satire.
- CoreyTamas, on 11/21/2008, -9/+21This was the first Onion article I ever read... and that was more than just a few years ago, let me assure you.
I'm not usually one to digg down an Onion article, but I don't think one should just pluck ancient articles up and make like you found something with his Super Awesome Article Hunting Skills.- MakiMaki, on 11/21/2008, -9/+17I ONLY just read this YESTERDAY while browsing the Onion. Thought it cool and submitted it. That's all. Your sarcasm is unnecessary.
I don't give a damn about the date but apparently some people are so hung up on hating it no matter what instead of actually looking at the content... which is 'timeless' most of the time anyway. Hell I'm sure some people might not have seen it too, not everyone is a hardcore Onion news expert or print subscriber. Some only started reading the Onion last year for ***** sake.
Bury all you want, I don't care. It is your right and editorial vote. Just wanted to share my POV.- santiago1, on 11/21/2008, -4/+8 Somebody needs a hug
- EarlOfLade, on 11/21/2008, -1/+2I don't read The Onion on a regular basis, so the article was very welcome and very funny! Thanks!
Just because something was not published within the last hour, doesn't mean it can't be submitted and enjoyed by us regular Joe's. I am sure I'm not alone in not having read it before.
- PennFarmer, on 11/21/2008, -5/+7I'm with Maki. I'm also not a Digg super user, so even things that have been on Digg before (and recently) are frequently new for me. If enough people like it to get it to the front page, then who cares when it was originally done.
- CoreyTamas, on 11/21/2008, -3/+4Ok. Good to hear a differing opinion on that. I'll give it some thought. Thanks.
- MakiMaki, on 11/21/2008, -9/+17I ONLY just read this YESTERDAY while browsing the Onion. Thought it cool and submitted it. That's all. Your sarcasm is unnecessary.
- Epical, on 11/21/2008, -10/+1What the hell did I just read...?
- B3000, on 11/21/2008, -0/+9Something above your comprehension level apparently.
- QueensGangsta, on 11/21/2008, -12/+1That was stupid. And that picture with that 11 year old kid. Stupid.
- EarlOfLade, on 11/21/2008, -1/+1OK, I get it.
It was not stupid because it was about a video game character, nor was it stupid because of the kid, nor was it stupid because of the well written content. YOU think it was stupid because it had a different view on something you have never seen and only exists inside your head, a so called "god"
- EarlOfLade, on 11/21/2008, -1/+1OK, I get it.
- DarkBlueAnt, on 11/21/2008, -0/+6Wow. I haven't seen this in forever. I'm happy to see it again though.
- Diggsterrr, on 11/21/2008, -1/+26Snake?! Snakee?!?! SNAKEEEEE!!??!1??1!
- UndeadZmobie, on 11/21/2008, -0/+1"What?! You young whippersnappers!"
"I snapped plenty of whips in MY time!"

- AEnkryption, on 11/22/2008, -0/+0Can I have some of whatever you have?
- B3000, on 11/21/2008, -1/+5Yeah, I was going to say something about how this is eight years old, but it looks like that might get me buried, so I guess I won't.
- Fishn2, on 11/21/2008, -0/+3Pft, you'll never get that Big Boss medallion using continues.

August 1, 2001 | Issue 37•26
Why is this on the front page?- Knowltey, on 11/21/2008, -0/+3It took that long to get here.
- donkevin, on 11/21/2008, -1/+7Who cares? Just enjoy it.
- FredFredrickson, on 11/21/2008, -0/+2Because it's funny.
- santiago1, on 11/21/2008, -1/+4 Some serious PMS around here today.....
- brokenhope, on 11/21/2008, -4/+0I think I understand the point of this... if it is inferring the kid playing the game is the cruel god compelling Snake to continue. I really do not see the point unless it is somehow trying to relate this to real life.
I really do not understand what is trying to be said, just seems dumb and could have better defined the point of this.- weebs, on 11/21/2008, -0/+5Sounds like God hit "no" on your sense of humor.
- OriginalPinkDog, on 11/21/2008, -0/+1Old as hell, but still funny.
- mercury4k, on 11/21/2008, -2/+6God is just a n00b.
- TheOneTrueGod, on 11/22/2008, -0/+1Yeah, but I'm getting the hang on this. Soon to Minus it up a bit.
- Laughto, on 11/21/2008, -0/+1One must imagine Siphysus happy
- Nyuura, on 11/21/2008, -9/+1could people stop putting onion articles on digg? they aren't funny nor are they news related. i want funny news stories that are real on digg.
- Laughto, on 11/21/2008, -0/+11Digg is not news. It's a collection of things from the internet that entertain or interest people who submit or digg them. Know this and be at peace.
- e61iuser, on 11/21/2008, -5/+1Read Kid Radd. It's so much better.
www.kidradd.com - superterrorizer, on 11/21/2008, -0/+4So what you're saying is: We should build a space helicopter.
- CrushThemTorg, on 11/21/2008, -0/+4I woke up with a clown's hands in my pants. That's what I did today.
- ergobliss, on 11/21/2008, -0/+2you people are cracking me up more than the onion article. yes it's old but so what? it's kinda nostalgic. get over it.
oh and no one gives a ***** if you're atheist, at least i don't. - DragonForce4, on 11/22/2008, -0/+4god is 18 now
- BDCforreal, on 11/22/2008, -0/+2Dugg for MGS and Onion.
- ry4nsm1th, on 11/22/2008, -0/+1Big Boss wasn't a little bitch about it.
- volacide, on 11/22/2008, -0/+3I've read this many times before but it can have a very different connotation now versus then. Particularly with this comment, "Why will the Lord not grant me my final rest?" You could almost look at it as if God if Kojima and how he just won't let Snake die. Although it's also kind of funny since this one uses a picture from Metal Gear Solid 2 where Kojima took us away from Snake. Either way, I think I'm reading too much into it but it's still interesting and hilarious.
- MikeXpop, on 11/22/2008, -0/+3If I recall correctly, this was published after the Tanker Demo was released in ZOE. Nobody knew at that time that Raiden would be introduced.
- volacide, on 11/22/2008, -0/+2Even more interesting wouldn't you say?
- MikeXpop, on 11/22/2008, -0/+3If I recall correctly, this was published after the Tanker Demo was released in ZOE. Nobody knew at that time that Raiden would be introduced.
