Hopefully, this will put an end to the lies from the anti-Obama idiots.

Judges have thrown out the frivolous lawsuits from the wingnuts and smear merchants. The State of Hawaii, including the Republican Governor, have verified the authenticity of Obama's birth certificate. Obama's original birth announcement in the local newspaper from 1961 has also been verified.

I always trust our government officials, but I have to admit, I'm curious why Obama didn't just make it publicly available. Is he trying to send his opponents on a wild goose chase?     I'm pretty sure he is an American citizen but there must be something on the vault copy that is embarrassing or it would have been produced by now. Likely something minor or just mildly suspicious but something.

The only alternative to "natural born" is "naturalized", ie. acquired citizenship _after_ birth, as opposed to being a citizen from birth. Being born on US soil isn't the only way to be born as a US citizen, ie. a natural born citizen.
    
    Oh, and this applies to McCain too... sure, he was born outside the US, but you don't even need to bring up the whole "Panama Canal Zone = US Soil" argument that always gets trotted out at this point. McCain was born to US citizens, and thus is a natural-born citizen, just like Obama.
    
    They're both eligible to hold the the office of President. Get over it.

    When Obama's mother re-married, it was to an Indonesian man. After they were wed, all three moved to Indonesia. In order for Obama to be eligible to attend school in Indonesia, he would have had to become an Indonesian cititzen. Indonesia did not allow for dual citizenship at the time so he would have had to give up his U.S. citizenship in the process.
    
    This means that upon returning to the U.S. he would have had to go through U.S. immigration. He would then become a naturalized U.S. citizen and in turn become ineligible to run for the public office of U.S. President.
    
    It's a technicality, but them's the breaks...

    You are right, and you are wrong. If you are a born American citizen, and then later obtain another citizenship, it is as simple as moving back to America and claiming American citizenship. I know. My father was born in American, later obtained Canadian citizenship. He is now, again, an American citizen working for dept of homeland security. He is not considered a naturalized citizen.

After looking into certain smears, my respect for Obama actually INCREASED.

For instance, I spent time looking into the specious claim that Obama had political ties to Raila Odinga, who claims to be Obama's cousin. The fact is that many people in the Luo ethnic group (3 million strong) claim to be relatives of Obama. While Odinga's mother came from that region, there is no blood relationship. Odinga was trying to associate himself with Obama politically because Obama is a hero in Kenya (with schools and streets being named after him). After looking into it, my respect only INCREASED for Obama after viewing/reading the speech he gave on that 5 nation fact-finding tour of Africa (simultaneously destroying claims that Obama has no foreign policy experience, and that Obama misappropriated funds on that trip because he stopped by to see his grandmother). A re-occurring figure in the smear campaign against Obama is Jerome Corsi. You might remember him from such books as "Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry" and "The Obama Nation". Corsi put forth many of the popular debunked smears in his book. The fake birth certificate claim leaped from the blogosphere to the mainstream media when Jerome Corsi brought it up on Fox News. Corsi claims to have obtained documents and emails proving Obama donated to and supported Odinga, but those documents are widely criticized on both grammar and authenticity. This guy is a real slimebag, and anyone caught quoting him should immediately be laughed at.

This is the failure that is the internet driven smear campaign propagated by the Conservative nut-jobs. They chose to promote fantasy after fantasy in hopes they won't get caught in time. Had conservatives stuck to real issues, had they had clearer convictions, and had they painted a clearer picture of how to reach a sunnier tomorrow, they could have won my vote. Hate, lies, insinuation, fear, and a mantra of 'Not Obama" may win conservatives some votes. I, for one, believe America has had more than enough of all of that.
