- smith1302, on 11/13/2008, -5/+6Hah, interesting article. Made me laugh, worth my digg.
- LloydBentsen, on 11/13/2008, -2/+14"Coleman Defeats Franken"
- FishHammer, on 11/14/2008, -7/+5That one is just depressing if you look at how much voter fraud Franken's team is pulling right now.
- SuperDelen, on 11/14/2008, -0/+1Uh you mean the lawsuit for data? They aren't suing to include the votes. Obviously you aren't paying attention.
- FishHammer, on 11/14/2008, -7/+5That one is just depressing if you look at how much voter fraud Franken's team is pulling right now.
- RileyCourage, on 11/14/2008, -1/+2WWII hed is absolutely classic.
- kd420, on 11/14/2008, -3/+9"Giant Douche beats Turd Sandwich"
- JinandJuice, on 11/14/2008, -0/+22The first article was not entirely fake. The battle at Los Angeles actually happened, but no planes were shot down. In fact, they didn't even know what they were shooting at.
http://www.sfmuseum.org/hist9/aaf2.html- Enasni1212, on 11/14/2008, -0/+1Yeah, I recognized the first headline from a damninteresting.com article. Kind of an obscure one, you'd think they'd have more background info.
- BoneheadFarker, on 11/14/2008, -3/+26Ok...anything that includes The Onion in a list of serious news organizations should be ignored...
- boardthis, on 11/14/2008, -3/+3reading is FUNdamental... "here's a look at eight great fake (and false) headlines"
- BoneheadFarker, on 11/14/2008, -3/+5Yeah, but they were referring to a genuine hoax on a real news organization, and listed 7 real news organizations who were genuinely trying to report the news. Using The Onion in this list is like referring to the Rhino Party as a serious political contender...
- jumpattack, on 11/14/2008, -2/+3No, the New York Times spoof was not from a real news organization, and seeing as how that was the example that sparked the article, including The Onion makes perfect sense.
- boardthis, on 11/14/2008, -3/+3@ boneheadfarker
it was just a list of 8 headlines that a crappy weekly mag in seattle found amusing. of course they are going to use the opening of a starbucks in a bathroom headline because it is SEATTLE. ;)
simma down. no reason to get your blood pressure boiling over something so stupid. - FFXIfrohike, on 11/14/2008, -0/+2Then let's just put every article on the Onion as an item then! I call stupid on this one, whether it fits the premise or not.
- weaselfingers, on 11/14/2008, -1/+2Like Digg?

- stevo3131, on 11/14/2008, -6/+5Dugg for The Onion making the list.
- jonshipman, on 11/14/2008, -0/+4Funny, I buried it for the same reason. Why? The Onion is this list.
- SenorBabyMan, on 11/14/2008, -1/+0IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW!
- Leviathan433, on 11/14/2008, -0/+3LOUD NOISES!!!
- PGPirate, on 11/14/2008, -0/+23A blurb about the newspapers would have been great. Not all are self-explanatory
- slimkevi, on 11/14/2008, -3/+1I agree. I want to know WHY they ran the headlines, like "Iraq War Ends".
- boardthis, on 11/14/2008, -1/+1one quick google solves this epic problem.
- PGPirate, on 11/14/2008, -0/+2That was a joke that just happened.
- RileyCourage, on 11/14/2008, -0/+1and was part of the slideshow description: "Inspired by today's fake New York Times being circulated with the "Iraq War Ends" headline, here's a look at some classic laughs, intentional and otherwise, from the last 60 years."
- slimkevi, on 11/15/2008, -0/+1Nevermind. Got it.
- slimkevi, on 11/14/2008, -3/+1I agree. I want to know WHY they ran the headlines, like "Iraq War Ends".
- Ljay90, on 11/14/2008, -7/+4"Mission Accomplished"
- jonmlm, on 11/14/2008, -1/+21Buried for including one headline from the onion. seriously, they couldn't find 8 actual headline goofs? and the mission accomplished entry wasn't even a headline, just a picture.
- DaveXensen, on 11/14/2008, -2/+1John Lennon's "War is Over! if you want it" ad should have been in this list.
- MLisa, on 11/14/2008, -0/+16Buried for multi-page ads...
- LizNovack, on 11/14/2008, -0/+2I wonder if digg had any preemptive 'McCain Wins' headlines?
- coreyb, on 11/14/2008, -0/+4Does the corporate ad community really think that we are okay with multi-page slide shows?
- cquilliam, on 11/14/2008, -0/+6How about some back story on some of these? This appears slapped together, especially seeing an onion article thrown in there.
- specter19, on 11/14/2008, -0/+1Dugg For having my last name on the first pic.
- Gewn, on 11/14/2008, -0/+3Your last name is "Gunfire?"
- armakaryk, on 11/14/2008, -0/+2thats a pretty badass last name.
- Gewn, on 11/14/2008, -0/+3Your last name is "Gunfire?"
- BohicaTwentyTwo, on 11/14/2008, -3/+3How is a banner on an aircraft carrier a newspaper headline?
I don't know how some people will be able to live when they no longer have President Bush to hate. Oh nevermind, digg away morons. - kigcoopa84, on 11/14/2008, -3/+1More like "Dewey Defeats Truman" to "terrorist defeats U.S"
- caeser5786, on 11/14/2008, -0/+1the one with Kerry came across as a little creepy, like Kerry has made the choice to come out of the closet. the picture didn't help with him looking closely into the eyes of dick gephardt.
- mobbo, on 11/14/2008, -0/+2I LOVE LOADING 8 PAGES!!!!
- nepidae, on 11/14/2008, -0/+0I think there were 2 ok ones. The obvious truman and "iraq war ends". Others I couldn't tell if they had shopped or maybe someone else, and including something from the onion ... weak.
- KellyFL, on 11/15/2008, -0/+2To set the record straight, the "Dewey Defeats Truman" newspaper is NOT a fake. Before the days of polling it was necessary to take an educated guess at who would win and they didn't know that the spread between two candidates almost always dwindles at the very end. Typesetters were on strike at the Tribune and management set the type. Because they were not skilled at this they had to start the suburban edition early and guessed wrong as to who would win. They delivered the papers then realized the error then gathered them all up and disposed of them. A few made it into distribution. I own one of them as a collector of rare and historic newspapers. I'd sure like to find one of those fake NY Times.
Now you know the tory of the Dewey Defeats Truman paper.
