- elf25, on 11/17/2008, -0/+3agreed, I got to like, 5 and quit. poster must have a small mind which is easily blown. ;-)
- cddict1, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1Great pics but bad for us in reality. Forest fire damages our lovely environment.
- eatporktoo, on 11/17/2008, -1/+53didn't really blow my mind...that's what i expected a giant ass fire to look like
- thedivinelyevil, on 11/17/2008, -1/+7exactly! this "will blow your mind" stuff needs to stop on digg. we will be the judge of whether or not something can blow our minds, thank you very much!
- EagleTG, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1Not if your mind is already blown! You'd never know, because you'd not have anything to judge the subject matter with!! I for one, thank the OP for pointing out that these pics will blow my mind.
- verevi, on 11/17/2008, -1/+11Way better set of pics:

- branndon, on 11/17/2008, -0/+21I live in Anaheim, these fires are massive, my cousins place burnt down. The skies were red Saturday afternoon. The smoke was so bad, Fry's Electronics (where I work) was smokey inside, I had to stand there for 8 hours breathing in that crap.
I pray that everyone will come out of this safe.- Spoomeister, on 11/17/2008, -1/+7Best of luck to you and your loved ones, I hope you guys stay safe... but... there's something deeply ironic about you working in a place called Fry's during a massive firestorm...
- SnuKs, on 11/17/2008, -2/+1These fires are nuts. But they dont compare to the fires socal had last year or the ones SD had in 03.
- ozid, on 11/17/2008, -1/+1best pic of what I was dealing with in HB:
http://www.latimes.com/media/photo/2008-11/4339757 ... - wrestlingnrj, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1I live about 4 miles from the Brea fire and it is still completely smokey at my house and everything is covered in ash. I work right across the freeway from you, Branndon, at the scrap yard, but luckily I didn't have to work on saturday or sunday. I'm fortunate to not know anyone who lost their home, but it is still very tragic none the less.
- jusgreat, on 11/18/2008, -0/+1I live in Brea... it wasn't pretty. Here's picture taken from from the cost looking back north. Outside of Brea Canyon, Brea was relatively safe. I would have been more worried about the guys just north in Diamond Bar and into Chino Hills.

- laughtears, on 11/17/2008, -0/+5make that 59 pics (it's alive!)...would be nice if they had a tiled thumbnail preview of the gallery, some amazing pics there.
- Surferess, on 11/17/2008, -0/+3sorry it keeps changing.
- FastZ, on 11/17/2008, -1/+1Would be nice if all the pictures were of fire and not of sad people standing outside their effed up houses. I don't wanna see that *****, show me the flames.
- ovni, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1Why not make it 60. Here's a view of the smoke at dusk around where I live:

- NCSD, on 11/17/2008, -1/+2Thank god its LA and not San Diego again this year. We need a break before it all gets burned down again
- yikiad, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1tell me about it. I just got my insurance money from everything i lost last year, over a year later.
- caseycoold, on 11/17/2008, -5/+3What the hell do you expect will happen when you keep not letting the forest burn at regular intervals?!!
The forest will burn because that's it's natural cycle. The longer between burns, the bigger it will be.
Solution? Don't live so close to a forest that, for thousands of years, has depended on fires to clean out debris and uses the heat to germinate. - samsonthesaxman, on 11/17/2008, -1/+1Los Angeles burns pretty much every year. I live in nearby Simi Valley and we've been evacuated from our home for local fires three times in the last five years.
- scoottie, on 11/17/2008, -2/+11The third pic of the boy and the dog look so staged
- ShiftyMcCan, on 11/17/2008, -2/+8Exactly! I'm almost certain they burned their house down for the picture. Photographers are at new lows.
- scoottie, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1no the fire is real but it looks like the photographer told the kid to sit there and hug the dog, because tbh i wouldnt be sitting in a burned out house hugging my dog i would be in the car drive as fast as i can out of there with my dog in the car
- ShiftyMcCan, on 11/17/2008, -2/+8Exactly! I'm almost certain they burned their house down for the picture. Photographers are at new lows.
- Rudegar, on 11/17/2008, -2/+1but it was not my mind i repeatably requested blown :S
- mogdor, on 11/17/2008, -0/+3That angry latina looks like she's about to blow out that fire like superman.
- Janizzary, on 11/17/2008, -0/+2Her name's Amada Anzueto and she's hot. So hot that maybe...never mind.
- borez, on 11/17/2008, -1/+9For crying out loud, more than one image per page please. It really can't be that hard.
- foolfoolz, on 11/17/2008, -3/+2here in santa barbara, well isla vista, we dont get any fires and not much smoke becuase the winds blow it towards LA.
But in like 2-3 weeks theres going to be a really windy day and when that happens the sky is literally brown, everything is covered in ash, the whole area just looks darker and browner. It gets inside and wrecks your car paint and your lungs.- edeabay, on 11/17/2008, -0/+3I also live in Santa Barbara, and we are having one of the worst fires in recent memory, RIGHT NOW. Over 200 homes have been destroyed since it started Thursday evening. In the 5 years I have lived here there have been 3 major fires, all which have put substantial amounts of smoke and ash in the air. You have no idea what you are talking about.
- caramba420, on 11/17/2008, -0/+2Yeah, dude, what the ***** are you talking about? My friend's house just got burned to the ground.
What about the Gap Fire? That was in Goleta, less than 3 miles from I.V. What about the Zaca fire? Smoke and ash blanketed I.V. and Goleta for like 3 months.
Are you a freshman or something?
- Benjigga, on 11/17/2008, -0/+6I've been clicking on as many of these "that will BLOW YOUR MIND!!!" links as I can find, but so far none of them have done the trick.
- russ3, on 11/17/2008, -3/+1How do I become a forestfirefighter, that looks awesome!
- Joomal, on 11/17/2008, -0/+21Blow my mind? Come on people... put realistic titles. I suggest this:
"Pictures of California Fires."
You gotta learn to turn down the drama dial. - mogdor, on 11/17/2008, -8/+5Somehow it dosn't seem as sad when rich peoples' homes get burned down. Does that sound terrible? Hope nobody gets hurt.
- Spoomeister, on 11/17/2008, -6/+3The fire isn't picking and choosing which homes to hit. Trailer parks, shopping centers and average homes are getting hit now.
I admit to not having much sympathy either when it was just mansions, but now real people are being affected too.- saltshaker2323, on 11/17/2008, -2/+2You people are pathetic. Yes, some of these rich "non-real" people came into money through inheritances/who knows what other means. But many of them did not magically become wealthy, they WORKED for the money they have. You have no right to say that because they earned every penny and accrued more pennies than most do in a lifetime, that they now are not REAL people with REAL lives and REAL feelings. I'm not rich, but I know how to get over my jealousy and treat every person at every level of income with decency. Have a little respect.
- Spoomeister, on 11/17/2008, -1/+2They also have REAL money that they can use to stay at REAL comfortable places and build more REAL houses somewhere else. So, yes, call it class warfare and disrespect, and yes, call it lumping in trust fund babies with hard-working celebrities and media moguls.
But I can't summon nearly as much sympathy for their plight as I can for the guy who's living paycheck to paycheck, who gets hit by a natural disaster.
- jml235, on 11/17/2008, -1/+7Because rich people aren't "real people," right? You realize that you are being just as prejudiced against the rich as you claim they are against "real people"?
- Cglass, on 11/17/2008, -2/+7Yes it does sound terrible, because you are.
You know absolutely nothing about ANY of the people who lost their homes, and yet you are charged enough to make a comment like that.
Shame on you.- new2theratrace, on 11/17/2008, -0/+4my three little cousins live in that neighborhood and they're just as good as anyone else. they are not rich and its horrible that ppl leave comments about this event not being sad.
- mogdor, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1I'm not "charged" over this and I'm not saying rich people are somehow "bad". Just saying I don't feel as bad for them as I would over a middle class or poor person losing their home. Rich people can overcome their loss more easily, whereas less fortunate people will have a much harder time, simple as that. I'm sure people at all financial levels have been affected. Ok so I made an overgeneralization because I saw a picture of a destroyed mansion.....I'm wrong, you put me in my place, whoopdeedoo, you get a gold star. People assume a lot of things from few words
- SpeakerCity, on 11/17/2008, -1/+3The people in Montecito are rich. The people in Yorba Linda and Anaheim hills are middle-class. They can afford big houses because they're so far inland.
- Spoomeister, on 11/17/2008, -6/+3The fire isn't picking and choosing which homes to hit. Trailer parks, shopping centers and average homes are getting hit now.
- icecycles, on 11/17/2008, -1/+6 pic 59 is totally worth it.
- Cglass, on 11/17/2008, -0/+159 later killed himself after seeing 29 =p
- jonathanforpres, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1yeah.....Hey guy, you're doing it wrong. :)
- Justmejack, on 11/17/2008, -2/+0Picture #15 shows that we should all stick with brick houses
- whatever01, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1Brick houses in California have other challenges.
- jwolcott, on 11/17/2008, -3/+4My mind is not blown. Buried.
- opafaf, on 11/17/2008, -7/+0Damn George Bush responsible for all these wild fires! He's trying to smoke out all his liberal Hollywood enemies!
- RIPtechtv, on 11/17/2008, -2/+1I am in Whittier and I am in a lucky spot. There are dry hills around 950 feet (not to mention oil pumps in the hills) that could go up in flames. We win out over here because most of the city is wind protected area. So on days where most of the area is getting 70-90 MPH winds here it could be as calm as could be. It still gets very warm here. One of the warmer city's in LA county. Just the lack of winds here make the chance for a massive fire less.
I know most people will not care do to the fact that most of the homes are million dollar + homes and they think they can just rebuild. The fact that they live in a high risk area and should know the dangers. - jazzfunkblues, on 11/17/2008, -2/+1major liquid explosion in #29. It is niiiice!
- PhattyPhattMatt, on 11/17/2008, -1/+1:(

- samsonthesaxman, on 11/17/2008, -0/+3Pic 7: George Carlin, still alive!
- aalmeida259, on 11/17/2008, -4/+2Picture #9: You cant wear a Red Sox shirt and not expect your house to get burned down.
- koft2, on 11/17/2008, -2/+2What blows my mind is that there are people who will click 50 times to get all the pictures in that slide show. What's not blowing my mind is the quickness I will demonstrate on clicking on that bury button.
- antoniuk, on 11/17/2008, -0/+5Blow my mind? My friend nearly lost everything she owned in one of the fires this weekend. The fire came within 20 feet of her home. I don't feel the title nor sensationalizing this is appropriate to all those who lost homes.
- shitforbrains, on 11/17/2008, -1/+6My mind remains totally unblown. Buried for the OMG, outrageous, un-frickin-believable hyperbole.
- RemovesTime, on 11/17/2008, -3/+0These suck and they should be building completely fire proof ...remember Oakland/Bezerkely? Very stupid zoning/building practices....

buried for the crocs - twertyto, on 11/17/2008, -1/+1Seems like most people don't are in awe of these photos and I can understand. If you don't live in LA I think it would be hard to grasp what's going on here. When you can see the smoke all over Southern California and the ash and you have seen the places in person and know people affected its different.
