- veronica1, on 11/12/2008, -0/+46The fact that he's blind is less remarkable than the time frame in which they worked. Awesome!
- MacBookForMe, on 11/12/2008, -14/+4Have you tried being blind before you speak rubbish here, mate?
- jeffkee, on 11/12/2008, -1/+7It's a ***** compliment, let it be. Do you have the quotient figures of how difficult it is to be blind versus how difficult it is to put that together in the time frame? I didn't think so.
- FoxMcCloud1, on 11/12/2008, -2/+10I too might think this man deserved more credit for his straight accomplishments w/o the mention of being sightless.
- veronica1, on 11/12/2008, -0/+1MacBookForMe, It's obvious you didn't read the article and just read the comment I made and decided to make some dooshy comment yourself. Sad...really sad.
- MacBookForMe, on 11/12/2008, -14/+4Have you tried being blind before you speak rubbish here, mate?
- stachesnmullets, on 11/12/2008, -1/+25That was ridiculously quick. Especially given the trip to Athens, Greece to set everything up.
- PigGeneral, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2Might be one of the reasons Nasa gives certain employee's credit cards everyone was complaining about 6 months ago. A team of people got an objective, needed gear and travel arrangements, and did it.
It would take 3 months to get a new stapler at my job.

- zantos420, on 11/12/2008, -0/+3haha yeah russia couldn't handle it so america sent a blind person to do it for them
- Ortheos, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1I wonder who solved problems on the Russian MIR (of which there were many), the most successful space station in history. I bet it was a blind nigerian monkey.

- Juaquin, on 11/12/2008, -0/+38Yeah I don't really see how being blind is relevant. He did some awesome engineering work and should be praised for it - he doesn't need people patting his head just because he's blind. I doubt he appreciates it.
- Azerael, on 11/12/2008, -1/+13I think it's notable because most of us could not imagine living without eyesight - let alone doing important engineering work without it, and we find this guy's achievements that much more admirable, if not inspirational, in that he achieved them despite his handicap.
- qwertydvorak, on 11/12/2008, -0/+6"I think it's notable because most of us could not imagine living without eyesight"
i would do lots of drugs and be bitter. at least the drugs would give me visions, blind or not. - FoxMcCloud1, on 11/12/2008, -0/+4he gets extra brownie points for the extra challenge factor.
kudos cookies and cakes for everyone - gospe1337, on 11/12/2008, -0/+8I'm legally blind, and I think it's noteworthy in the article--not in the headline.

- BrokebackCasket, on 11/12/2008, -0/+11Let's just hope someone else brings this into the Earth's atmosphere.
- neelsama, on 11/12/2008, -1/+12That proves being handicapped in one way does not hurdles what we can do. FTW.
- MacBookForMe, on 11/12/2008, -0/+6I liked cooperation between two "alien" super powers, though...:)
- palehorse864, on 11/12/2008, -0/+18Go Geordi!
- fluxion, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2jordi had a super-advanced eye visor, he aint got ***** on this guy
- palehorse864, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2Oh yeah? I'd like to see this guy save the ship with nothing more than a pencil, a pack of bubble gum and some bee's wax....
Oh wait, that was MacGyver.

This is the twin brother (also blind) of the man this article is about. He's one of the most amazing musicians you will ever see.- Stickeh, on 11/12/2008, -0/+0Thats amazing, i was reading the Nasa article with this playing in the background, but i had to double check the video when i heard trumpets....and they were coming from his mouth!
- Myztry, on 11/12/2008, -0/+3Clarity of mind.
I do my best thinking laying in bed, in the dark.
The upside of insomnia. - TheSum, on 11/12/2008, -0/+4The blind leading the...?
- gertsfert, on 11/12/2008, -1/+3Subtitle: Thought he was working for US whole time.
- t0x2c, on 11/12/2008, -1/+2I thought this was anti-communist propaganda for a second.
- Garth1Brooks, on 11/12/2008, -0/+3In Soviet Russia, space problem fixes you.
- Swivelstick, on 11/12/2008, -1/+2Need a top ten list for blind people now but only if it's females otherwise it would be sexist.
- brockpetrie, on 11/12/2008, -0/+4"But, he's gay!- I mean, he's gay- excuse me, he's blind."
- kakwakas, on 11/12/2008, -0/+4And hopefully this will make the Russians happy and they won't mind us using their shuttles like we plan to.
- sinuegoist, on 11/12/2008, -1/+3This makes me feel uncomfortable to say "I can't" out loud.
- roccanet, on 11/12/2008, -3/+2i just do not understand how putin thinks it is a good idea to try to refire the whole cold war ***** again. Did anyone watch the russian "state of the union" address by mendelev last week? it was COMPLETELY about the US and how the states is lying and deceiving them. Really scary almost juvenile stuff going on over there. Could you imagine obama giving a state of the union address and basically spending 40% of the speach lambasting the russians? grow up mother ***** oil and gas is dead and thats all you got
- vertigo32, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2Replace 'Russians' with 'terrorists' and you have the last 8 years.
Glass houses and all that... - brownsin07, on 11/12/2008, -0/+1I didn't see the Russian "State of the Union" but I assume Bush's plan to install a missile defense base in Poland protecting us from Russia might lead to Putin's paranoia. I hope the first thing Obama does is cancel that project.

- misterAsshole, on 11/12/2008, -2/+0***** astronaut: Midon come to the window and look @ the beautiful blue Earth below. You just don't get a chance to see a view like this.
Midon: ....
Ok Midon is not an astronaut but whatever. - NCSD, on 11/12/2008, -7/+2America - 1
Russia - 0- TheSum, on 11/12/2008, -0/+4So Russia wins? -0 > -1
- NCSD, on 11/12/2008, -0/+1why do i get dugg down for that? I'm simply stating the truth. I guess a lot of people hate America
- TheSum, on 11/12/2008, -0/+4So Russia wins? -0 > -1
- gnotDigger, on 11/12/2008, -0/+4We American laugh at stupid Russian Soyuz. It is how you say.. Too easy?
- TubzyX, on 11/12/2008, -0/+3don't dis his ability.
- herryberry, on 11/12/2008, -0/+0Wonderful and great.
- Barackalypse, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2A blind baseball player is news worthy, a blind guy solving data transfer problems is hardly worth mentioning.
- darny, on 11/12/2008, -0/+7I'm sure this guy is pissed that every other word in this article is "blind"
- jliverse, on 11/12/2008, -0/+0I haven't read the article, but I'm guessing the problem was pencil shavings flying around in zero gravity and he told the Russians to just use a pen.
- browe07, on 11/12/2008, -0/+1I didn't read the article either. I assume some NASA engineer wiped out the Russians.
- mswope, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2This is obviously Western propaganda. Mother Russia would never ask for help.
- Pan425, on 11/12/2008, -0/+0remarkably rare cosmonauts issuing an open call for technical assistance, in the harsh orbital frontier environment survival depends on cooperation, rarer still a lighthouse for the blind on an embassy rooftop, one step beyond red tape, working with space pioneers
- farfegnugen, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1WTF did you just say?
- beersnob, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1OK, where's the revolutionary breakthrough that the guy came up with to solve the problem? The article makes it sound like he saved Apollo 13 when all he may have done in actuality was order a satellite dish, radio receiver, modem, and laptop to receive and download the data stream. I know a bunch of ham radio operators who probably could have done the same thing.
- Wildthing, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1You're welcome. That will be unlimited use of Soyuz until our rockets are completed, please.
