- hardyjennz85, on 11/02/2008, -4/+5I wonder if they'll ever institute a humidor for the footballs there. Anyone who didn't realize I was joking there sucks.
- themaxxx, on 11/03/2008, -0/+1wat?
- samrwamr, on 11/03/2008, -0/+2haha yeah there's been a few too many kickoffs goin through the uprights.
(It's a rockies/coors field joke, if you're confused)
- Kugelblitze, on 11/03/2008, -3/+3For some reason I thought this was going to be a story about kinky sex.
- morgino, on 11/03/2008, -5/+6Thank god Denver is so horrible it gives the Chargers a chance to get there ***** together and make it to the playoffs
- idiggiphone, on 11/03/2008, -2/+6Thats hilarious coming from a charger fan who still trails the Broncos. Almost as funny as your annual underperforming with some of the leagues best players. Almost as funny as chargers never having won a super bowl in 40 years. Almost as funny as naming the last team to win a Super Bowl from the AFC West. Hmmm ... let me think about that one. Oh yeah, that would be the 97 & 98 Broncos winning back to back. I agree that this years Bronco team isn't a thing of beauty. But I'll bet that at the end of the year we'll still be one game better than the chargers. With rivers throwing picks into the end zone at the end of every game I'd say our odds are pretty good.
- duggdowncatisad, on 11/03/2008, -2/+2Sadly, he has a point. The Broncos haven't looked good during their current 3 game losing streak, one of their 4 wins was a gift from the refs, and they're only leading the division because the rest of the division sucks so bad.
- morgino, on 11/03/2008, -3/+3It always cracks me up when fans of a football team bring up games that happened over 10 years ago. The Raiders always bring up the fact that they one some championships forever and a day ago. Denver sucks, face it. They are on a downhill slide. Hochuli gave them a win over the Chargersand when it comes down to it I guarantee a Charger playoff berth
- DickyT83, on 11/03/2008, -2/+1won.
- NCSD, on 11/03/2008, -3/+1hell to the yeah! If we can get our defense together, super bowl here we come!

- AJRiddle, on 11/03/2008, -5/+3I've been to Denver and ran around for a while and couldn't tell a difference in the air. I really think its somewhat of a myth perpetuated by the media
- Chassit, on 11/03/2008, -2/+10I live in Denver and when I go to sea level, my lungs feel as if they are bursting!
- martynda, on 11/03/2008, -1/+9People react to it differently. I moved to Denver and it took me a few days to really get used to it. If you go into the mountains and get above 10k ft, the lack of oxygen hits you like a rock. You always see climbers on TV struggling to get up a mountain and walking really slowly. Until you climb one of the 14ers, it's hard to comprehend why while sitting on your couch eating chips.
- AJRiddle, on 11/03/2008, -0/+1Yeah but Denver is next to the mountains, not in it at only 5k ft. I definitely could feel the difference in the air at 10k up on Pikes Peak
- o5rob5o, on 11/03/2008, -0/+11Whenever you get to Denver, pound 2 beers really quick and tell me you dont notice a difference in how things work.
- polarbobbear, on 11/03/2008, -0/+3I always love going up to around 9,600 ft in Breckenridge and watching all the sea-level tourist come and have a few beers. They don't realize the effect alcohol has on them at that altitude. By the time they have 2 or 3 beers its as if they'd been binging all night.
- MeatMountain, on 11/03/2008, -0/+5This same principal is why I can drink so many beers in the low altitude of my mom's basement.
- mrswirl, on 11/03/2008, -0/+3I live at 7300 ft and do aerobic exercise 4-5 times a week. Typically I'm sucking wind by the end of a 45 min session on the cardio machines at my gym.
I went to Dallas last week for business and used the hotel exercise room. They have the exact same machines that I use here in Colorado. I worked out for an hour straight at a higher resistance setting and barely broke a sweat - my heart rate never went above 145. I felt like I could go on forever.
Another advantage about going to sea level is I can usually drink all my colleagues under the table and not have much of a hangover the next morning. - pastathellama, on 11/03/2008, -0/+2It's only really noticeable if your doing a routine workout for 15-20 minutes (depending how good of shape you are in). Your body won't last as long.
Especially if your knew to hiking or climbing at this level, you'll get altitude sickness if you don't drink enough water.
The less air, the less oxygen you send to your muscles, eventually your blood will grow thicker to carry more oxygen once your at a high altitude after a year or so.
- Cannon49, on 11/03/2008, -0/+6Nothing quite like having to wake up at 3am because hometown fans pulled your hotel fire alarm.
- Chargers, on 11/03/2008, -7/+2The altitude has little or no effect on the outcome of a NFL game played in Denver.
- slvrbullet87, on 11/03/2008, -1/+11I guess the way the dolphins ajusted was building a wall on the line of scrimage... they held the broncos to 7 yards on the ground. that isnt a typo SEVEN yards rushing
- sethworld, on 11/03/2008, -0/+6Go Dolphins!!!!!!!!
- Redemption289, on 11/03/2008, -1/+3With such a terrible defense this year, who needs to adjust? Seriously Denver, get it together.
- thaprinze, on 11/03/2008, -1/+5The Dolphins got all the training they needed by playing catch with their sons. Can't understand why the Broncos suck so much this year. The entire AFC west for that matter. I guess on the bright side, we're not the Raiders. What a joke that was!
- Fun4Two, on 11/03/2008, -7/+1Denver Broncos Suck
- sodade, on 11/03/2008, -1/+1Why don't they do what cyclists do: http://www.higherpeak.com/
- shaka999, on 11/03/2008, -0/+1I just glanced at the page and it got me wondering. It looks like it reduces O2 while your exercising. My understanding is that the best way to train was to sleep/rest at altitude and work out at sea level. The reasoning is that your body adjusts to the altitude while your resting (more red blood cells ...) and you train at sea level because it allows higher intensity. I recall reading something about Nike having a house for runners in Seattle (or there abouts) that allowed them to do just this.

- cgibbo, on 11/03/2008, -1/+3Awwww the Denver Broncos?
-Homer Simpson - samrwamr, on 11/03/2008, -1/+2I've lived in Denver all of my life - when I go to the shore I feel like I could sprint on the boardwalk for 3 hours. Huge difference for me.
it's nice to see a cool article on my home team here!
Our defense actually improved great distances this week. We stopped the run far better than we have all year... It's a shame it just flipped and now our offense isn't clicking like it was at the beginning of the year. Hopefully we can pull things together a bit before cleveland on thursday night... This has to be the turning point in the season or it's definitely over. - boulderdsh, on 11/03/2008, -0/+2I grew up at sea level and moved to Colorado as an adult. The first day I was in CO I barfed on Arapahoe Rd. from the altitude.
- samrwamr, on 11/03/2008, -0/+2Hahaha that's awesome I live right off of Arapahoe
- NCSD, on 11/03/2008, -1/+1Chargers FTW
