but slvrbullet, didn't the spanish olympic basketball team pictures teach you anything?
also. hamilton is going to win it this weekend. im actually surprised the spanish care, considering alonso can't win... I first thought this was a brazilian thing, since massa is 7 pts behind..
I guess they blame hamilton for what happened to alonso with mclaren. - batfink3312, on 10/31/2008, -0/+1@droxy yeah I got that.

- ShArKSe7eN, on 10/31/2008, -5/+25Great, looks like Spain hasn't forgiven Hamilton for showing up Alonso when they were teammates at McLaren.
Go Hamilton!- VEGETAble, on 10/31/2008, -6/+7They never will forgive Lewis or Ron Dennis for what happened, and they shouldn't. As Jacques Villeneuve said,
"He got in the car and wasn't respected, even though he was a 2 time world champion."
Those 2 must never forget what they did to Alonso.- tecunx, on 10/31/2008, -7/+6What they did to Alonso was the lowest thing I have ever seen in sports.
- auto98, on 11/01/2008, -1/+2 It didn't start off like that though - it was only after Hamilton kept beating Alonso that it started - I mean Raikonnen (the reigning champion) is going to be helping Massa tomorrow if he can, Alonso obviously felt that he should have been above that, instead of working for the team he started whining
- VEGETAble, on 10/31/2008, -6/+7They never will forgive Lewis or Ron Dennis for what happened, and they shouldn't. As Jacques Villeneuve said,
- rmeddy, on 10/31/2008, -0/+33What's with Spain and the racism?
- bonlebon, on 10/31/2008, -2/+12It all started with the crusades I guess...
- 01001001, on 10/31/2008, -1/+13Humiliation for getting their asses kicked and conquered by the Moors.
White Spaniards are letting go of their centuries-old repressed feelings towards the coloreds.- keilly, on 10/31/2008, -0/+2Spain was conquered by the moors, just like Sicilians. Dennis Hopper has a go at explaining it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9inQUB0Ol0&feature ...
- PatoLucas, on 10/31/2008, -2/+8I guess it's just Spaniard culture is extremely racist, if you're black or latin-american you'll have a lot of trouble there. They really go the extra mile to make you feel you aren't welcomed, even as a tourist, I believed that if I wear a shirt saying "I'm just a ***** tourist" they'd be better, I was wrong.
It's the only country in the world where I have been called names by random people on the street. - craighoxton, on 10/31/2008, -1/+5They're a bunch of smelly *****s?
- MrOstrich, on 10/31/2008, -1/+4This reminded me of the Spanish tennis team doing the Asian eyes during the Olympics. Don't want to be quick to judge, but seems like this stuff happens more often in Spain then elsewhere.
- bonlebon, on 10/31/2008, -13/+5Bear in mind Spain have very bad problems around racism, like Canada, the US, Japan... well you get the picture. Google or youtube various news about Spaniards beating foreigners, they are brutal.
The only voodoo Hamilton should worry is Ferrari implementing a non standard component in their cars. This is all a campaign against McLaren. Go Hamilton, prove the haters to hate the game not the player.- oxphantomxo, on 10/31/2008, -3/+14You’ve obviously never been to Canada.
- bonlebon, on 10/31/2008, -4/+3Is Canada worse than Spain? Yikes!
- bodger, on 10/31/2008, -2/+3No.
- boombye, on 10/31/2008, -7/+2*****, Canada's got just as much racists there. I've been told more racists things by Canadians than by people from anywhere else. Don't digg down bonlebon for being honest, Canada and USA along with Japan and Spain have their share of racism.
I'm sick of every time I see someone say "you've obviously never been to Canada" or "We have no racists here".....It's *****, and it's ridiculous to act like you guys are the only ones that don't have that problem because everyone has a bit of it in their own respective countries. Seriously why do you guys act like you're better than everyone else and don't have the same problems that everyone else deals with, regardless of geography, it's a problem that's all around.. Oh but Canadian's think they're perfect, so let them think there's no such thing there. - artfiend77, on 10/31/2008, -1/+8@ Boombye
You're kidding, right? Canada indeed has it's fair share of racists, but no where NEAR the States or worse, Spain. Take it from a person of colour born here, sometimes I even feel bad for White Canadians. It's such an accepting country I am CONVINCED that if you come from a non-English speaking country you can live in Toronto and NEVER have to learn English.
***** like what happens in Spain would NEVER go through in North America. Sure, there's racism in both Canada and the US, but you can kiss my sweet ass if you think we're as bad as those ***** Spaniards. - KaiserArny, on 10/31/2008, -3/+5Sure there's racism in Canada. But I've seen racism in Haiti too. Canada is much more tolerant than any European country.
- boombye, on 10/31/2008, -6/+3Yeah but my point is, is that it happens in both countries, the USA and Canada, so it's not fair to act as if it doesn't happen. I'm just trying to say that I'm sick of people who deny that it ever happens at all, because there are people who try to act like every thing is better where they are when it comes to problems that are all over the place. However, to some degree, that crowd in Spain is no different than the racists in either America or Canada, all racists are morons, and every nation has morons, and lots of them too. There's no way of us knowing everyone's opinions, but if we did, we'd probably be offended all the time. But yeah, I don't think it's any worse or better, I think it all depends on the circumstances..Sometimes they'll come out in force, sometimes they'll just stay quiet and keep to themselves.
- artfiend77, on 10/31/2008, -3/+5@boombye
You just said all that...to say nothing at all man. STFU, no one ever said there wasn't any racism in Canada.
Also: Stop being such a defensive prissy whiny little bitch. - boombye, on 10/31/2008, -4/+3@Kaiser, Canada is no more tolerant than any European country. Like I said, there's this mindset that Canada is better than everyone else, when that's not the case.. I think the racism is bad no matter where you are.
@artfiend77: Your problem is that you say what the Spanish do is worse than what happens in North America... I mean you forget what all these Republicans say and how it's a crime to be a Muslim in America, but sure of course, we're no where near as bad as those Spaniards.. I think at times we can be just as bad or worse. But I'm not going to pretend it's any better here than over there. But of course you can pretend it's better than anywhere else, which is such *****.
What makes Canadians less prone or inclined to racism than Americans or Spanish?
What's the secret? How come it's less worse there than it is in the States or in Europe? - KaiserArny, on 11/01/2008, -1/+1@boombye I'm of Haitian and German heritage. I'm born in Canada. When my parents had to decide where me and my sister would grow up, they chose Canada before Germany, Switzerland, Haiti or the U.S. I was teased the most in Haiti. The Swiss were the most racist and intolerant. Germans less than the Swiss but still a lot of ignorance. The US was out of the question because race had a factor to where you lived or worked in 60's. Canada is not perfect, but compared to the average European, they are a lot more tolerant towards cultural and ethnic minorities. Proof, we got a Black Head Of State before the Americans.
- ubpsanity, on 10/31/2008, -2/+5Canada?? Never knew I lived in a hotbed of racism.. Maybe you should take a trip up here sometime and see for yourself.
- boombye, on 10/31/2008, -3/+4Or quit pretending you don't have a problem that can be found anywhere on the planet Earth..Oh but Canada is not the rest of the world, Canada is much better than everyone else right? I mean you guys never miss an opportunity to criticize other nations that engage in the same acts as your own. I guess it all depends where you are in Canada, or maybe you guys don't notice it when it's so blatant or obvious, whatever the case may be. Where do you get this hotbed of racism *****? The point is, that you guys have just as much racism as USA, Japan, and Spain.. It's not like you guys don't any element of it there, because I've experienced it myself. It's everywhere. Name a damn country, and I'm pretty sure we can find examples of racism in that nation.
- ubpsanity, on 10/31/2008, -2/+4Wow, Boombye, I think you actually have yourself convinced that Canada is as bad as the States for racism. I don't know, I've never been to Japan, or Spain, so I can't say anything about them, but I have been to the States quite a few times, and seen it there much worse than Toronto which would be our most american-like city.
Yes, we have racism. No, it's nowhere near what the States have. - artfiend77, on 10/31/2008, -2/+3Boombye is a ***** douche. With that attitude I'm not surprised people were being asses towards him. Might I ask what nationality you are?
- boombye, on 10/31/2008, -2/+3My nationality doesn't matter, I'm not providing you one to justify whatever retarded idea you have.
The problem is that you're assuming your nation is less racist because of your experience with it, that's not a fact, that's an opinion. Your of the opinion that your nation is less inclined to deal with racism than another nation. So what's your secret? Because my city is just as multi-cultural as Toronto, and not that far from it either. I would like for you to explain to me how Toronto is any more or less racist than say Chicago. Chicago much like Toronto is a kind of place, where if you're on the bus, it's like being at the UN or something, you're around people of every culture. So what I want to know is how you go about proving that your country is less racist than America. Because that is insulting. You don't find a fault in saying your country has to deal with it less than Americans? What if there was no difference, and each of our nations dealt with it to the same amount or degree.
I'm just finding it weird how you guys can say that it's a bigger problem in the States. I think it's a problem regardless of geography, and I don't think one nation has it any worse than the other, I mean if you're paying more attention to racism in a particular part of the world, you'll notice it more than places you don't pay attention to... - artfiend77, on 10/31/2008, -3/+1@ boombye
Great, it's as I thought; You have absolutely NO point to be made.

- mccartyba, on 10/31/2008, -0/+9Its really sad to see people being so racist these days. I never really understood the point of it, but I suppose a lot of people are either ignorant or just plain stupid.

And retards posting racist nonsense? Been on Digg lately?
Buried for being a non-story. - fatas, on 10/31/2008, -6/+20Sadly racism is common is Spain. What is even more pathetic is how they are so blind to their mix heritage.
They have tried so hard to ignore that large portions of their country were ruled by Moors for 700 years.
Nazi's from Germany consider them be impure greasy half-breeds.- tecunx, on 10/31/2008, -3/+10as if the Nazis were a source to be trusted.

- KaiserArny, on 10/31/2008, -2/+8Spaniards are the most Africanized Europeans after the Portuguese. How could they forget being ruled for 700 years by a mix of Arabs and Africans and thinking that they did not mix?

- morgino, on 10/31/2008, -7/+11I love it when the Spanish and Mexicans call people in the US racist for just wanting to enforce our current border laws. Fact is they are much more racist as a society and so friggin hypocritical it would be funny if it wasnt so tragic
- Darkyuubi, on 10/31/2008, -2/+15Its ok. Hamilton's talent > all.
Seriously. Have you seen the kid drive? - VEGETAble, on 10/31/2008, -16/+3If Lewis wasn't such a dirty racer, he might be spared some of this, although either way it is uncalled for.
- Rickard, on 10/31/2008, -6/+2Why are people digging this down? Lewis sure knows how to drive, but he does come off as kind of an *****. He isn't very popular among the other drivers.
- Brentg7, on 10/31/2008, -1/+4Cocky yes, an ***** I'm not so sure. Wouldn't you be a little cocky if your drove like him at his age/experience. He is just young and aggressive with a lot to learn about respecting the other drivers.
Give him time, it's only his second season.
- Brentg7, on 10/31/2008, -1/+4Cocky yes, an ***** I'm not so sure. Wouldn't you be a little cocky if your drove like him at his age/experience. He is just young and aggressive with a lot to learn about respecting the other drivers.
- slicecom, on 10/31/2008, -0/+6Lewis isn't a dirty driver. He's just aggressive. I'd argue that Massa is dirty as he's the only one who has made a blatantly obvious move to take his competitor out this year (Fuji on Hamilton).
- VEGETAble, on 10/31/2008, -1/+1Open your eyes and watch the first turn of that race, and lewis almost taking out raikkonen. Remember when he pushed massa off the track twice in a span of 3 turns at the end of the german gp? Or at monza, where he pretty much took out glock i believe. Massa made a bad decision; the first of the year for him.
- diggonit, on 10/31/2008, -0/+1You have no idea what you are talking about. you are only exposing your ignorance.

- tfox2k1, on 10/31/2008, -0/+1You realize blacks in America are typically at least 25% white? I'm blacker than Colin Powell or Rev (Racist) Wright, and I'm Italian.

- kansai22, on 10/31/2008, -3/+9The only way to beat these racist is to be the very best. Hamilton on Sunday Obama on Tuesday. This is going to be a great year to break down racial barriers and stereotypes.
Spain never ceases to amaze me. Its something I learned a long time ago about racist they typically hate what they are closest to since most Spaniards are at least 25% black. - flipao, on 10/31/2008, -2/+11Without meaning to defend the people who actually are racist, I do have to say the British press seem to be on a mission to apply a racist stigma to all people from Spain because of a number of headlines in sports related incidents and without any other actual research, none of their articles does actually list any statistical data (i.e. hate crimes) that could add weight to their arguments, all they have is the same 4-5 stories they've been talking about for the past 5 years.
There is racism in Spain just as there is in any other country:
England:
http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/01102008/1/police-pr ...
The US:
http://www.reuters.com/article/vcCandidateFeed7/id ...
Croatia:
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_41936 ...
etc...
Of course those imbeciles who created the website and posted those comments are not doing Spanish people any favors, but just because the press say so, doesn't make it true, there's thousands of immigrants who risk death every year just to get into the country, their friends must be putting in a good word:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/7586597.st ...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/7584730.st ... - kywy, on 10/31/2008, -5/+6Someone has made a mountain from a grain of salt
1-This website exists for more than 1 and a half years. And this is news only now ????
2-Some comments are racist (and this is despicable) but most are not, and actually very funny. --> and the title of the articles are -> Racist abuse.....
The fact the some minority of people are not civilised, does not mean the rest of the country is the same. For the same rule we could think that because some hoolligans are making trouble, then all british are the same right ? - jopsa, on 10/31/2008, -5/+2As a spaniard, I wouldn't say we are a specially racist country, certainly not to earn this "reputation" we seem to be being tagged with.
We do have obvious racist groups, particularly the right-wing nut-jobs that are still around from Franco's time, but I wouldn't expect it to be that much more vocal than racists from any other country.
It saddens me that we project this image to the world, which makes us seem like such backwards people.
I'm trying to find an explanation for this behaviour, and what I think is the main reason behind it is that we, as a society, insult so much. Everyone and their mum is prone to be under attack, so for those sports-freaks that get so excited about their team winning, a racist remark is just something to grab onto to downgrade the opposition. It wouldn't be the first time I hear a friend of mine saying something racist "just because" it's someone from another team, even though they aren't actually racist.
I hope this doesn't come through as defending what's happened, just trying to find some reason behind it. It's still disgusting.- ramzavala, on 10/31/2008, -0/+1I think you and your friend are just racist in denial.
- Oblivision, on 11/01/2008, -0/+0 I am spanish too, and I think u just don´t understand. Jopsa, the reason is simple: BRITISH PRESS. They are the ones that started it, and now they are pulling out a web that is one year old!. Y my self participated on that web last year. Right before the championship was between Alonso and Hamilton, ´cos Raikonen was third. British press take these things out of context, like they did with the basketball team, as I´ve said back then, pulling the eyes isn´t an insult in Spain, as I know it is in other places. I guess England hates Spain for some reason, maybe jealousy...
- andj, on 11/01/2008, -0/+2lets not forget that special post card moment with your basketball team posing for the Bejing Olympic games.
- ramzavala, on 10/31/2008, -0/+1I think you and your friend are just racist in denial.
- replikhant, on 10/31/2008, -2/+2Actually Kywy is correct. This website is a year old, and I remember visiting it. Somebody is trying to hype things up. Racism is foul, but this type of lying stinks just as bad.

- Oblivision, on 11/01/2008, -0/+0we are the only country with 2 Gran Prix (Montmelló and Valencia), so ***** off
- Freyfuron, on 10/31/2008, -6/+1Spaniard here. We're not racist... but anyway, how can you call anyone racist when you've invaded a whole country (Iraq) and supported Bush for 8 years?
The mirror, look at it USA. - charlesray, on 10/31/2008, -3/+4This website is basically just a message board where people who hate Hamilton (there are a lot of them, perhaps deservedly) mock him. It's like if Digg were focused entirely against McCain. Besides, it's the British media, of course they are going to blow it out of proportion.
- observerseye, on 10/31/2008, -2/+1disgusting.
Hamilton deserves the title. And remember Spa... - hoodyzx7r, on 10/31/2008, -0/+3It's so very sad that such a talented human being as Hamilton is subjected to this infantile and disgusting behaviour, it has no place with in the boundaries of decency and racism needs to be tackled once and for all. It seems in this scenario however that the root of this problem is that Hamilton is far superior to his competition, why should he be penalised for being better than everyone simply because he is black? If Alonso was 7 points clear at the top of the championship with a single race left, would there be such inexcusable actions made by english people? I personally believe not.
- Boofster, on 10/31/2008, -1/+4Why can't we as a human race already get over this stupid race discussion? Enough already.
- enmattp, on 10/31/2008, -0/+3What a bunch of *****.
- yosserhughes, on 10/31/2008, -0/+4What do you call a black F1 driver that finishes first?
The winner. - J4k3, on 10/31/2008, -2/+3I hope Hamilton ***** all over spain. These losers deserve it.
- Oblivision, on 11/01/2008, -3/+0I hope you ***** on yourself
- karve, on 10/31/2008, -1/+3I have travelled all round Europe and Spain is the most outwardly racist country I have ever been to. I went to 2 football matches both in Madrid and there were monkey chants and other sickening examples of racism at both... if that happened it in the Uk in this day and age it would be an absolute scandal but it happens every week in Spain..
They do come across as backward and uneducated... its like being in mid 70's Britain going there. amazing considering they are 8 miles from Africa!- Oblivision, on 11/01/2008, -1/+2 I am spanish, and when I was in England, there were some parks we couldn´t walk through because we could get beaten up by some english racist hooligan. It would never happen in Spain. We talk too much, I know, but it´s just words. If you take a look on violent racism, there are many countries (such as Germany, USA, England...) with a much bigger problem than Spain.
- toowired77, on 11/01/2008, -0/+1The Spanish are using racism to intimidate someone they cannot defeat. The Spanish have to import athletes just to give a boost to their national prestige.
- Oblivision, on 11/01/2008, -1/+0Import athletes? Tell me one
- 3leggedHorse, on 11/01/2008, -1/+1He is just a ***** no need to be racist. Massa all the way.
- mofobitchslap, on 11/01/2008, -0/+1bloody conquistadors! way to go noobs...
- computershack, on 11/01/2008, -2/+1They're only upset because we destroyed their Armada, bankrupting their country and they know full well that the only way their country can afford to keep the lights on and feed the population is because of the hand outs Britain gives Spain via the EU.
Oh and I guess they're a bit pissed because we've bought up pretty much the best bits.
Spain is seriously a backwards nation only kept from being third world because it's part of the EU.- Oblivision, on 11/01/2008, -1/+1Probably you are living in a region that once was Spain. America would still be a third world country if it wasn´t for Spain. Spanish banks are buying amreican banks, http://www.bizjournals.com/philadelphia/stories/20 ... spanish companies are building your roads http://corridornews.blogspot.com/2008/06/txdot-cho ... and you pay to go see spanish players on the NBA, you or your friends study/studied spanish at school... Plus, right now, the only 2 time champion driver in Formula 1 is a spaniard.
One more thing, we (spain) don´t owe ***** to the UK.
So don´t say we are a backwards nation.
