When my parents had to decide where me and my sister would grow up, they chose Canada before Germany, Switzerland, Haiti or the U.S. I was teased the most in Haiti. The Swiss were the most racist and intolerant. Germans less than the Swiss but still a lot of ignorance.The US was out of the question because race had a factor to where you lived or worked in 60's. Canada is not perfect, but compared to the average European, they are a lot more tolerant towards cultural and ethnic minorities. Proof, we got a Black Head Of State before the Americans.

We do have obvious racist groups, particularly the right-wing nut-jobs that are still around from Franco's time, but I wouldn't expect it to be that much more vocal than racists from any other country.

It saddens me that we project this image to the world, which makes us seem like such backwards people.

I'm trying to find an explanation for this behaviour, and what I think is the main reason behind it is that we, as a society, insult so much. Everyone and their mum is prone to be under attack, so for those sports-freaks that get so excited about their team winning, a racist remark is just something to grab onto to downgrade the opposition. It wouldn't be the first time I hear a friend of mine saying something racist "just because" it's someone from another team, even though they aren't actually racist.
I hope this doesn't come through as defending what's happened, just trying to find some reason behind it. It's still disgusting.

If you take a look on violent racism, there are many countries (such as Germany, USA, England...) with a much bigger problem than Spain.

Oh and I guess they're a bit pissed because we've bought up pretty much the best bits.

Spain is seriously a backwards nation only kept from being third world because it's part of the EU.

Plus, right now, the only 2 time champion driver in Formula 1 is a spaniard.
  One more thing, we (spain) don´t owe ***** to the UK.
  So don´t say we are a backwards nation.
