Libel and threats also fall into the same category. I'm not saying this particular case qualifies, but it definitely approaches the territory of unprotected speech.

        Related to the topic in general, if I started a group (in say 1930s Germany) and preached violence against Jews. Would I be held responsible if my group killed millions of Jews even though I didn't personally kill any of them? I know its an extreme argument, but thought it was interesting, anyhow.

It was others who did and then couldn't accept responsibility for their actions and blamed him. You can tell me to murder someone all day but if I killed someone I don't think I'd get off the hook. There is still some decision making on the part of the one who commits violence, no one forced them to do anything.

While the group admins have no Constitutionally-protected freedom of speech on a private website, the matter should remain between the provider and the consumer. I agree that such a group should not be allowed and that shutting it down should be okay. But I don't agree that it is a police matter.

        I suppose Stephen Lynch should be arrested for his song Kill a Kitten, since it incites violence and everyone who has ever killed a kitten obviously got the idea from that song, not an internal trait. I saw an episode of CSI where a guy shot a cop. Therefore, CSI should be held accountable for every police shooting.

I can take a joke, and as it appeared on South Park, maybe some people could have thought it funny, and other people shaken their heads and just written it off as yet another pulled by the makers of the show. But to take it this far to create a group, and actually have these people been made victims of sensless violence is just absurd. I think this group should just be shut down, and even an apology made (but knowing South Park, I'm guessing that may not happen. Bah.)
