- bosoxrock, on 11/03/2008, -7/+8Bowl projections right now are very iffy. CBS has South Carolina in the Cotton Bowl against Texas, and has Tennessee in the Liberty Bowl. Both seem a bit high to me.
http://soxandcocks.blogspot.com/2008/11/bowl-proje ...- NetierZero, on 11/03/2008, -1/+5That seems REALLY high for Tennessee. I honestly dont know if they will even get a bowl game...Personally I'm a Carolina fan and the Gamecocks in the Cotton Bowl with Texas would = a loss for them. Carolina's defense is very strong and their offense shows glimmers of dominance, but they aren't really any match for Texas.
- bpoteat, on 11/03/2008, -1/+3Agree. I'm also a gamecock fan, but SC probably will not do better than the Outback.
Tennessee is VERY high. Just to be bowl eligible they have to win out, which is looking less and less likely. - justdont, on 11/03/2008, -1/+4Cotton Bowl usually takes an SEC West Team and The Gamecocks are in the East... So that prediction doesn't seem very likely.. I am a HUGE Gamecock fan and would much rather goto the Outback bowl in Tampa.
- robbh66, on 11/03/2008, -3/+11Tech is getting what it deserves. Year in year out Tech wins a lot of games, but year in and year out they always lose to someone they shouldn't. Granted, if they lose at this point it will be to a top 10 or the north champion, but now that they're number 2, they'll be ranked higher. Sure, they'll probably beat OSU this weekend but after that it's OU...in Norman. Stoops is like 59-2 there and they're probably still pissed after getting knocked off in Jones last year and a win means OU goes to the Big 12 championship.
- jpetrin, on 11/03/2008, -1/+6Actually, if Texas and OU win out, Texas goes to the Big 12 championship (identical records and Texas beat OU which is the tiebreaker).
You think Tech gets no respect? What about Alabama?- patriamus, on 11/03/2008, -3/+6i was at the cotton bowl a few years ago when Tech played Alabama. What a stunner... great game. Alabama won with a lopsided field goal that appeared to miss. All the tech fans started screaming, then we realized we lost.
Anyway, that was 2 years ago. We just beat the #1 team. If we beat OSU, another top 10, we deserve respect. This was the first time Tech has had to prove itself this year. We have to give em another chance to do the same. - dafragsta, on 11/03/2008, -2/+4What this man says is correct, much as I wish it were not. The tie-breaker is the team that won when they played each other. This is why the Big 12 South is doomed to beat up on each other no matter how good all the teams are. They all play each other.
Texas needs to lose ONE MORE dammit. I hate to be a bad sport and root against them outside of that one weekend in October because I live in Austin, but dammit that game was so close, so GO AGGIES! ;)
In the Big 12, it's all in the family. - drstulsa, on 11/03/2008, -0/+5Actually, If OU and Texas win out, there is a possibility of OU going to the Big 12 championship. They would need Tech to only lose to OU and then be ahead of both Texas and Tech in the BCS. This is due to the three-way tie that would occur in this situation.
Just to answer the invariables questions.
Texas over OU
Tech over Texas
OU over Tech
All must have one conf loss for this to work.
- patriamus, on 11/03/2008, -3/+6i was at the cotton bowl a few years ago when Tech played Alabama. What a stunner... great game. Alabama won with a lopsided field goal that appeared to miss. All the tech fans started screaming, then we realized we lost.
- fotoman, on 11/03/2008, -0/+4Will if Texas and OU win out, and Tech only looses to OU... it's a 3-way tie! So it would be the team that is ranked higher in the BCS after the last week of the season that would be the South Champion.
Tiebreaks 1,2,3 would all be the same as would 4 if they each only have 1 loss (to each other)
b. If three or more teams are tied, steps 1 through 7 will be followed until a determination is made. If only two teams remain tied after any step, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative.
1. The records of the three teams will be compared against each other
2. The records of the three teams will be compared within their division
3. The records of the three teams will be compared against the next highest placed teams in their division in order of fi nish (4, 5 and 6)
4. The records of the three teams will be compared against all common conference opponents;
5. The highest ranked team in the first Bowl Championship Series Poll following the completion of Big 12 regular season conference play shall be the representative
6. The team with the best overall winning percentage [excluding exempted games] shall be the representative
7. The representative will be chosen by draw.

- joebaloney, on 11/03/2008, -0/+2So you are saying the polls should take into account that "they always lose to someone they shouldn't."
I hope you don't have a vote.
Anyway, tech SOS will get tougher from here out they control their destiny. - alexialisette, on 11/03/2008, -0/+2You should be watching OSU a little closer. They did much better against Texas than OU did. There is a great chance they will win against Tech.
- JeremyTTU, on 11/03/2008, -0/+3Tech is 7-0 against OSU at home...
- jpetrin, on 11/03/2008, -1/+6Actually, if Texas and OU win out, Texas goes to the Big 12 championship (identical records and Texas beat OU which is the tiebreaker).
- kenyan, on 11/03/2008, -0/+7I'm pretty sure its because Florida has a better defense, and has a great record in the SEC. And the lambasting of LSU, UGA... Its a similar situation on how LSU got into the Championship Game after being #12.
- ethanji22, on 11/03/2008, -2/+2Michigan didn't do too bad last year against Florida.... Big Ten is a bit down recently, but not as bad as Ohio State would indicate.
- bbtweb, on 11/03/2008, -0/+2not as bad as PENN state would indicate. Don't forget who beat who and who is undefeated.
- davewashere, on 11/03/2008, -0/+4Florida is also red hot right now, and if they win out they will be the top 1 loss team (especially since winning out also means winning a conference championship game against 'Bama).
- offrdbandit, on 11/03/2008, -5/+3Florida won't beat Alabama.
- ethanji22, on 11/03/2008, -2/+2Michigan didn't do too bad last year against Florida.... Big Ten is a bit down recently, but not as bad as Ohio State would indicate.
- FlaG8r, on 11/03/2008, -15/+9Another SEC/Big-10 title game? Haven't we figured out that the Big 10 can't compete with the top of the SEC yet?
- dfsiii, on 11/03/2008, -5/+7Past 5 years, Big 10 vs. SEC: 9-9.
- MovieMan99, on 11/03/2008, -6/+1How are you getting 18 games out of 5 years....
- bobburn, on 11/03/2008, -1/+2How about in title games? Where the top SEC has beaten the top Big-10 year in, year out for what seems like forever now.
- ethanji22, on 11/03/2008, -4/+2Michigan vs. Florida- last year...hmmmm
- mrm335, on 11/03/2008, -2/+3Hummm... Penn State has won 8 out of its last 10 bowl games... and has some of the most balanced stats in the NCAA.

- FlaG8r, on 11/03/2008, -0/+2I said "top of the SEC". UF was 3rd in the Eastern Division last year.
- bdh8, on 11/03/2008, -0/+2I think you meant to say Ohio State, not the Big 10. Penn State has an impressive bowl record, actually.
- dfsiii, on 11/03/2008, -5/+7Past 5 years, Big 10 vs. SEC: 9-9.
- onlysc, on 11/03/2008, -3/+11GT/WVU could be interesting
- offrdbandit, on 11/03/2008, -0/+2Two running QBs in two completely different offenses.
I would love to see that matchup, because I GT's secondary would handle WV's offense much more effectively than WV's defense would handle GT's ground game.
- offrdbandit, on 11/03/2008, -0/+2Two running QBs in two completely different offenses.
- Morreti, on 11/03/2008, -2/+19Dugg for the optimistic Georgia Tech prediction. Go get em jackets!

- lefthandpisces, on 11/03/2008, -1/+5hell yeah! Orange Bowl here we come!
- Dismember, on 11/03/2008, -3/+10That's a lot more respect than Tech deserves right now. There will be no BCS bowl game if the can't handle Oklahoma State this weekend, who is very very good, or Oklahoma, who is just short of great. That's a big if for the Red Radiers. Great win against Texas, but it was in Lubock not like Texas' win over Oklahoma in a neutral field. But, if the Raiders can go undefeated, they'll be in the championship game with no doubts! I hope it happens!
- Boing, on 11/03/2008, -1/+30Please no USC/OSU Rose Bowl. I understand the whole Pac10/BigTen thing... but we've already seen this game this year. I'd rather see USC play Texas, or Bama, or Florida, or Tech, or anyone else in the top 10.
- ispellkonfusion, on 11/03/2008, -2/+3While the teams have played already, the game would not be a mirror of the beginning of the season. With Pryor and Beanie actually playing, maybe OSU could prove that we can play big teams without being brutally embarrassed. I'd be interested to see the game.
- numbnick, on 11/03/2008, -1/+2What was their excuse against Penn State?
- wild, on 11/03/2008, -3/+10I would rather see USC left out.
- joebaloney, on 11/03/2008, -3/+7Uh, if OSU gets to a BCS game something is wrong.

- kingbinji, on 11/03/2008, -2/+13these projections don't mean anything...the only poll that matters is the one at the end of the season. there's a month of regular season college football left and ANYTHING can happen between now and then. just look at last year
- Treoinmypocket, on 11/03/2008, -20/+14This will obviously change weekly but for the record:
Penn State has played no one but Ohio and has no business even being considered....
The game that will decide this is Alabama vs the Gators in the SEC Championship. Bama will win that and go on to the National Title.
End of story.- statusmalus, on 11/03/2008, -6/+29The fact that you don't know the difference between Ohio and Ohio State makes your opinions on college football worthless.
- Ljay90, on 11/03/2008, -2/+9To be fair, we all know he was talking about Ohio State, the only Ohio college football program worth mentioning.
- Puttzy, on 11/03/2008, -2/+2Sad state of affairs when that is the case.
- lskywalker, on 11/03/2008, -0/+2Seems perfectly appropriate in an article using the ambiguous "tech"...
- GTOFan350, on 11/03/2008, -7/+4Treo, so playing and beating Illinois on Sept 27 whose was number 1 at the time doesn't count and playing anyone?? What about playing Michigan Oct 28th who was number 2 at the time??? You should just stop tryin to talk about College football cuz you clearly have no idea what your talking about. BTW Ohio and Ohio State or TOTALLY different teams, FYI.
- dirtypenguin, on 11/03/2008, -1/+13Illinois at number 1? Michigan at number 2? What polls were you looking at?

- djones87, on 11/03/2008, -6/+5There is no way that Bama is playing better than Florida right now....
- Treoinmypocket, on 11/03/2008, -2/+5Calm down girls....I know the difference, I was just typing fast.
Where is Michigan now? Where is Illinois now?
Nowhere. Why? Because they were overrated and therefore those wins mean nothing. Ohio State is still ranked and still tough.
Bama beat Clemson (#9 at the time) at the beginning of the season too. Where are THEY now? NO WHERE.
Lots of teams are overrated and get their asses handed to them when they play someone decent - that's when you know they hype was merely that.
Penn State has gotten shafted many times in the past, not making the title game when they deserved it, so if they go this year maybe it'll be karma. It WON'T be talent.
BAMA goes all the way.
Let's meet back here when its all done....- RTJR, on 11/03/2008, -2/+2There is no way Alabam beats Florida. Sorry Treo just won't happen.
- MyCorona, on 11/03/2008, -0/+6Penn State has been tested once this year and they came out on top. Why is it their fault that this is the year that Michigan decides to suck and not make a bowl game for the first time in 33 years? Why is it their fault that Wisconsin and Illinois were overrated? They have met every challenge this year. They are the only team in the nation to have their defense and offense ranked in the top ten as of last week. They have talent coming out their ears. If they win out, they deserve a chance to play for the national championship.
- Treoinmypocket, on 11/03/2008, -0/+2RTJR -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZM6wOvcnfI - RTJR, on 11/03/2008, -0/+1Ancient history, that and a checked fedora won't do squat for you this year, Treo. Did you see what the Gators did to UGA. Your Yella hamma bama boys barely squeaked out a win. I hope 'bama can stay undefeated just so we can ruin your season.
GO GATORS !!! - bbtweb, on 11/03/2008, -0/+2right no talent...oh wait...who beat oregon state?? Penn State??? Oh YEAH! and then Oregon State beat the almighty trojans. I love how it truly kills people to give Penn State any credit at all.
- Treoinmypocket, on 11/03/2008, -0/+1RTJR
History has a habit of repeating itself and BAMA kicked Georgia's ASS. We simply costed in the 2nd quarter until we needed to smak em down again.
Who had Georgia down 31 to 0 in the first half?
Yea....you keep dreaming there buddy. Florida goes down by 10 points in an exciting but inevitable loss. - RTJR, on 11/03/2008, -0/+0Sad you are just delusional Treo, I sincerely hope you don't do anything to harsh when Florida roles your Tide. Also don't be surprised to see Saban get busted for cheating and then slink away....nice run while you were not getting caught...
- Treoinmypocket, on 11/04/2008, -0/+1RTJR Said:
"Also don't be surprised to see Saban get busted for cheating and then slink away....nice run while you were not getting caught..."
Dude. WTF are you even talking about?
Are you grasping at the straw that Saban coached for Belichick with the Cleveland Browns in the early 90’s? And that this somehow makes Saban a cheater?
What you do not remember is that when Belichick and Saban were coaching together, their teams were not very good.
Coach Saban with the Browns 1991-1994.
-Browns’ records were 6-10, 7-9, 7-9, 12-6.
-In 1991, the Browns gave up the most points in the NFL.
Prior to the Browns?
-1990 (Toledo HC)- Ranked 12th in total defense and 16th in scoring defense in the nation and won the MAC.
-1988-1989- Secondary coach under Jerry Glanville with the Houston Oilers- consecutive records of 10-6 and 9-7 were not good enough for Glanville (nor Saban) to keep his job.
-1983-1987- DC and secondary coach at Michigan State-
-1987 led nation in rush defense and was 2nd in scoring defense. This shows me how good of a coach Saban was prior to coaching with Belichick.
My suggestion is you concentrate on the real story - that the Gators face the biggest threat they'll see when they play BAMA - rather than trying to invent one.
- DetpackJump, on 11/03/2008, -0/+11Penn State also destroyed the team that beat USC
- Treoinmypocket, on 11/03/2008, -0/+2Oregon?

- hulashakes, on 11/03/2008, -13/+11That's because Tech always sucks, eventually. They only won on Saturday due to luck, not skill. Red Raiders = Classless clowns. OU is about to beat them.
- drstulsa, on 11/03/2008, -0/+8You're right, that was lucky for them to miss the game clinching field goal from 40 yards at the end of the third quarter. Good thing they were sacked for a 15 yd loss the previous play or that might have been an easier kick for the recent walk-on kicker.
I'm an OU fan, but you've got to give Tech some respect for the way they hung in there and finished the game with a W. - Twinked, on 11/03/2008, -3/+3As a Longhorn, I hope to whatever is held holy you're right. OSU or OU has got to beat Tech!
- Infra6x, on 11/03/2008, -0/+3Luck was on Tech's side?
What about Shipley's punt return for TD that had an OBVIOUS clipping flag that was called off for whatever reason?
What about a desperation long pass that luckily paid off for a 91 yd TD?
Texas' offense didn't score a single TD until the fourth quarter. And the last one was the only one that they actually showed any sign of a #1 ranked team to accomplish.
Tech dominated Texas on both sides of the ball for the entire first half of the game. Leach made some bad play calling in the 3rd quarter trying to run out the clock, and Texas had a few breaks thrown their way and kept themselves but being blown out, but the better team obviously won. - jasonslay, on 11/03/2008, -1/+3You must have missed the first half of the game and all of the stats for the game. Certainly was not luck. TU was lucky to have made the game that close.
Numerous plays where the THREE man defensive line scored a QB sack sure do seem to indicate anything but luck.

- thegoldenavatar, on 11/03/2008, -1/+9It's also assuming Florida is going to beat an undefeated Alabama in the SEC championship game. As a Bama fan I'd obviously hate to see it, but ever since the loss to Ole Miss, Urban Meyer has got his team playing out of their minds.
On the other hand, I don't see Florida putting up as much against us as they have against LSU and Georgia, because our key to victory this year has been our more than solid running game, eating time off the clock in huge chunks.- Ljay90, on 11/03/2008, -0/+3Florida is like OU right now. After losing a game they shouldn't have, they're now taking it out on everyone else they play. I feel sorry for the remainder of their schedules.
- Feep, on 11/03/2008, -0/+3I expect the Alabama-Florida game to be one for the ages. Two teams playing spectacular football right now. I'm a Gators fan, but I'll be more than happy to see either of these two teams represent the SEC in the National Championship game...and beat the ever-loving daylights out of Penn State.
- roberekson, on 11/03/2008, -4/+7The shouldn't get any respect. As badly as Texas played in the first half of Saturdays' game they had no business even having a chance to win that game, and if it hadn't been for Blake Gideon dropping a gift-wrapped pick, we'd be talking about another huge Texas Tech collapse (again).

- Vindicoth, on 11/03/2008, -1/+14I'm a Florida Fan (see avatar) but I don't know who's going to win the SEC Championship in an Alabama / Florida match up. I feel that the SEC Champion will be one of the contenders to the BCS Championship. I also feel that the SEC Championship is going to be a more exciting game than the BCS Championship. The best 1 loss team in the country (disputable, it could be texas now) VS the best undefeated team in the country? Awesome. I'd love to see Alabama or Florida go to the BCS National Championship to represent the SEC for the 3rd year in a row.
- Ljay90, on 11/03/2008, -1/+2You of all people should know that Les Miles will NEVER lose to Nick Saban, even if he has to run on the field himself.
- Jackson0909, on 11/03/2008, -0/+5You should realize that Bama will almost certainly be in the SEC Championship Game regardless of if they lose to LSU. Bama has to lose two of their last three (one of which has to be to LSU) for them not to go.
- chazzblazer, on 11/04/2008, -0/+0Bama is going to lose out. LSU will lose to Ole Miss. Ole Miss will win out and go to the SEC champ. for a rematch with Florida.
sarcasm if you couldn't tell.
- gooch3803, on 11/03/2008, -0/+4Im a UK fan, and i have to say that Florida has by far the strongest team in football, maybe in the past 10 years. The loss to Ole miss was a fluke, or maybe over confidence, but in no way represented the athleticism, talent, and ability of that football program. Ever since that ole miss game, you guys have stomped the ***** out of anyone that comes into your path and dont blame you for running up the score in any game, you have to show that you are that good to get back into contention. I have no doubt you will impose your will for the rest of the season.

- MVPhurricane, on 11/03/2008, -0/+2Dugg. Although I'm not convinced yet that our team this year is as good as our 2007 Fiesta Bowl team. Not that I would care -- a BCS game is a BCS game.
- lostsymphonies1, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2#9 now!

- reddevild, on 11/03/2008, -2/+2As a Pitt fan, we've been so up and down this year, that I'm almost hoping for Pitt to win out (yes, beat WVU, even though they'll be at home, where they are crappy) just to hope for a Fiesta Bowl rematch to get revenge on U of Utah, but really, i would just be glad for a bowl game
Even though the Big East is pretty weak this year, the last 2-3 weeks will be huge, Pitt, UConn, WVU and USF all play each other (minus match up between Pitt and USF) gonna be fun to see how it turns out- KublaiKhan, on 11/03/2008, -0/+1As a Rutgers fan, I am stunned that my Scarlet Knights are even listed (by both commentators, no less!) for a bowl game.
Not that they've actually been picked for anything prestigious but, hey, after watching how the season started, I'll take whatever I can get.- o5rob5o, on 11/03/2008, -0/+1oh ya? as a Syracuse fan...Im embarrassed.
I've also come up with a conclusion...Since Mcnabb left like 8 or 9 years ago and the implementation of their new uniforms that make them look like they suck more its all the uniforms fault. Well that and the complete lack of talent and coaching abilities of the front office.

- dacunni1, on 11/03/2008, -9/+3Buried for ambiguous and unlawful use of 'Tech'. There are three major football 'Tech' schools. And who has accomplished more than the other two in recent years? Virginia Tech.
You earn the right to call yourself 'Tech' when you've actually done something.- 1gunners4, on 11/03/2008, -0/+5Like win a National Championship? Then GaTech wins. :P
- dacunni1, on 11/03/2008, -3/+11990 is ancient history dude. Win the ACC this year and then we'll talk.
- 1gunners4, on 11/03/2008, -0/+31990 is still history, something that VaTech lacks. You get 10 wins every year and win the ACC every other season, congrats. That puts you on par with WVU. VT will always be a tier 2 football school: you never want to have them on your schedule, but they won't threaten for a National Title.
- dacunni1, on 11/03/2008, -2/+1Indeed, 1990 is history. I am talking 'recent' history. Haven't won your conference in the last decade? - Don't get to be called 'Tech.' Oh and if 'threatening' for a national title includes playing in one (and I imagine it does), then check your recent history.
- 1gunners4, on 11/03/2008, -1/+3So 1990 is ancient history for a National Championship, but 1999 is recent history for playing in one? Who decided this cutoff?
And in 1999, you had Vick, who is a once in a lifetime athlete! If you couldn't win a title with him, you never will.
- roberekson, on 11/03/2008, -2/+2I'm pretty sure he meant the Tech that is still undefeated and didn't crap the bed vs. East Carolina earlier this year.
- paynomind, on 11/03/2008, -0/+5...or, you could look up who actually owns the right to call themselves "Tech."
The only authorized use of Tech is for the Georgia Institute of Technology.
"Tech" is a registered trademark of Georgia Tech.
Argument settled. - o5rob5o, on 11/03/2008, -2/+2Virginia Tech is always way overrated, and always loses games to slightly better than average teams several times a season.
- 1gunners4, on 11/03/2008, -0/+5Like win a National Championship? Then GaTech wins. :P

- bigdc, on 11/03/2008, -0/+6Tech gets no respect? What about the #1 team in the nation Alabama?
And no respect for my Spartans, who have the last viable chance to knock off Penn State! (No offense to Iowa and Indiana.)- aliengoods, on 11/03/2008, -0/+3You really can't say the #1 team in the nation gets no respect. After all, they've been voted #1.
- gooch3803, on 11/03/2008, -0/+3Interesting they keep getting conference matchups for the bowl games that dont include teams from the conferences that are supposed to be in that bowl. last time i checked, louisville wasnt in the big 12 or SEC

BAN THE BCS - Takfam, on 11/03/2008, -0/+5I can't wait to fill out my tournament bracket and salute an undisputed national champion who went to the dance based on their record and not how much money their school makes for advertisers.
...oh, wait. - Adwt0125, on 11/03/2008, -1/+4Penn St. most certainly has the advantage Sat (I would give them about a 14 point spread) but PSU better watch their ass going into Kinnick...juggernauts have been known to fall there, it is not an easy place to play and Hawk fans will be fired up for Saturday. On the other hand, every week they aren't playing the Hawks I cheer for them...Go Big Ten!
- jordanlgta, on 11/03/2008, -1/+4Texas Tech isn't number one. Why aren't we talking about why Alabama is getting written off???????
- xenoc1de, on 11/03/2008, -0/+2Because Florida will beat them? That wasn't too hard to figure out.
- TheClassic, on 11/03/2008, -0/+3How does Texas get into the Rose Bowl?
- ShoeSh1ne, on 11/03/2008, -0/+0By winning out, they have 1 loss. Tiebreaker over OU, and assuming TT loses. Texas probably goes to the Big 12 Champ game and wins that. Giving them a birth.
- TheClassic, on 11/03/2008, -0/+1In a Pac10 - BigTen Bowl?
I just found the answer:
However, in the age of the BCS, if the Rose Bowl loses one of the two leagues' champions to the national title game (like, theoretically, No. 1 Ohio State), the team it chooses as a replacement must be ranked in the top 14 of the BCS standings. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/stew ...
I thought the next highest bowl eligible team in the conference would replace the league champion. If anything I figured they would have to be ranked, but didnt' realize they had to be in the top 14. - ShoeSh1ne, on 11/04/2008, -0/+0The Rose Bowl is no longer just Pac10/Big10 game. The BCS changed that. I think after the National Champ game, the Rose bowl gets second pick of the teams it wants. I could be wrong but that's how it works.
Texas has been in 2 Rose bowls recently, 2005 and 2006. - MellieB123, on 11/04/2008, -0/+1It would also financially benefit the "powers that be" for Texas to go to the Rose Bowl... some people are aching to see another USC v. Texas match-up after the upset in the 2005 championship.
- TheClassic, on 11/03/2008, -0/+1In a Pac10 - BigTen Bowl?
- ShoeSh1ne, on 11/03/2008, -0/+0By winning out, they have 1 loss. Tiebreaker over OU, and assuming TT loses. Texas probably goes to the Big 12 Champ game and wins that. Giving them a birth.
- jedicurt, on 11/03/2008, -0/+2so if the Texas bowl is between a Big 12 team and a C-USA team... why does the one guy have Rutgers v Memphis???
- skipdog172, on 11/03/2008, -1/+3I think some people need to start accepting the fact that College Football nowadays isn't like the College Football from the old days. The championship games aren't undefeated team vs. undefeated team. Teams are much more evenly matched now, like the NFL. It is going to be very difficult for any team to go undefeated. As close as teams are to each other in terms of talent, some games will be won and lost by such small factors that you simply can't look and see "team x beat team y, thus team x is the better team" anymore. I think more folks need to get that KEY POINT into their head. It is all about a team's total performance for the year and we should stop paying so much attention to the weekly polls because we know that they won't mean much next week. This has proven itself to be correct just about every single week so far.
- bbtweb, on 11/03/2008, -0/+3actually it doesn't even matter whether or not your team is underfeated. If you are an SEC team, and whine loud enough, you can get into almost any game you want. Take LSU for example. And remember undefeated Kansas last year??
- airwalke, on 11/03/2008, -0/+5Texas Tech will get the respect they deserve when they actually win out.
- Ryanw430, on 11/03/2008, -2/+3If Texas Tech and Alabama both win the rest of their games I see them (rightfully) playing for a national championship. One of them will probably lose though given their tough conferences, which means the Big Ten will more than likely send another team to get blown out. At the lower end of the BCS we'll probably see another WAC team get in simply because they have an extremely weak conference and the MWC will screw itself over once TCU, Utah and BYU all play each other. It goes without saying that we need a playoff system in college football.
- drbuns, on 11/03/2008, -1/+2Tech isn't getting "respect" in the bowl projections because the guys doing the projections are tools.
Regardsless, with Oklahoma State and Oklahome in the next two consecutive weeks, Tech is going to have their hands full. - Egg333, on 11/03/2008, -0/+3Yay Boise State! BCS bowl #2, here we come :D
- fotoman, on 11/03/2008, -0/+2Big 12, might have 4 teams in the top 10, yet only 2 can go to BCS bowl games....
- troyguy2, on 11/03/2008, -0/+2The Red Raider Rash is being enjoyed by so many this year...
- Bwackv, on 11/03/2008, -2/+3Penn State getting screwed. They don't have control over their schedule but rest assured that if it were Michigan or Ohio State they'd be number 1 or 2 right now. Alabama beat Clemson and Georgia. Clemson's now 4-4 and Georgia got their asses handed to them in both of their big match-ups.
- chazzblazer, on 11/03/2008, -0/+1Well Alabama was one of those teams that handed Georgia's ass to them. That is a stupid comparison. Alabama would also potentially have to beat a top 5 ranked Florida team. In my opinion, that is a lot more impressive than Penn State's wins. I am not a Bama fan one bit, but at this moment Bama deserves to be ranked ahead of Penn State.
- Fleagleman, on 11/03/2008, -0/+4This would be due to their guaranteed losses against either Oklahoma or Ok State...or probably both.
- kcpepper111, on 11/03/2008, -1/+3No respect? What else is new? As if anyone even cares about the other 10 teams in the Big 12 besides Texas and OU. It's BS, and has been this way since the Big 12 started in '96.
- Midtowner, on 11/04/2008, -1/+1Stop considering 7-5 seasons to be 'successful' and then get back with us about your team deserving respect.
- rblancarte, on 11/03/2008, -2/+2Texas Tech - want respect? Win out against OSU and OU, then come talk to us.
