- SemiSarcastic, on 11/19/2008, -4/+3I'm sick and tired of people like you being sick and tired over things in the entertainment industry who do things that you have no control over. Because for everyone person like yourself there are over a hundred people who could care less and enjoy it anyway and are part of the reason the creators and producers keep peddling on the things you call crap. Let me tell you something: most TV/movie viewers are not the sharpest tools in the shed, people like trends, people would rather conform than shake things up, originality is more scarce than you think, and most television appeals to the lowest common denominator anyway...Also Santa Clause isn't real.
- tomvamp88, on 11/19/2008, -0/+1What no santa clause?
- coondog35, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2Not every episode is a movie parody. The last one was abou- oh.. well, the one before that was just about the elec- oh. Well at least the two before that were about.... Holy crap! South Park is turning into Weird Al for movies!
- Yousty, on 11/19/2008, -2/+1Really? Every episode? Because by my count out of the 6 episodes aired this fall only half of them have parodied a movie and one of those was a two-parter.
The China Problem - Made fun of Indiana Jones, but didn't parody it.
Breast Cancer Show Ever - An original episode that parodied nothing.
Pandemic - Only thing parodied in this was the camera from Cloverfield.
Pandemic 2 - Ditto.
About Last Night - Last I checked the 08 election hasn't been made into a movie...yet.
Elementary School Musical - Obviously parodied High School Musical.
So as you can clearly see only half of the episodes have parodied a movie this fall. Also, not sure if you've ever watched South Park, but PARODIES IS WHAT THEY DO! That's what makes the show funny!- GavinZac, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1I think "About Last Night" is a parody of Oceans 11, although I've never seen the "Oceans x" series so I could be wrong.
- Yousty, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1Doh, forgot about that part of the episode. You're right, it is a parody of the Ocean's trilogy. Wow, I guess that does make it pretty skewed in the movie parody direction. That makes it 5 out of 7 for this fall's episodes.
- SemiSarcastic, on 11/19/2008, -4/+3I'm sick and tired of people like you being sick and tired over things in the entertainment industry who do things that you have no control over. - tattertech, on 11/19/2008, -2/+7All right look, someone explain this to me: Why the hell is every episode a parody of a movie this season? Are they ***** with us in some elaborate way?
- moothemagiccow, on 11/19/2008, -0/+0They want you to stop watching South Park. They've been wanted this since the movie.
- ldkronos, on 11/19/2008, -0/+1Huh? Ok on the parody side we have:
Twilight - I'm assuming this is a legit claim
High School Musical - Yep
Oceans 11 - I'll give you this one, even though I think it wasn't a parody of the movie. The movie was just a convenient platform to parody the election.
Heavy Metal - Now were getting pretty thin. Yeah, it might have been mocking the sexual cartoon imagery from the movie a bit, but again, I don't think they were making fun of anything in the movie so much.
Blair Witch Project - Really thin, now. There was almost nothing in the episode (except the looking into his own camera with the flashlight thing ) that had to do with the movie. The excessive camcorder use could have been any of 100 movies.
So where does this leave us? 1 definite parody with a 2nd supposedly on the way tonight. A 3rd of questionable merit, 2 more with pretty much no merit, and 9 with nothing even remotely a parody (as far as I can tell). Please let me know what I'm missing. What were all the parodies in these other episodes that I didn't seem to catch?
- ldkronos, on 11/19/2008, -0/+1Huh? Ok on the parody side we have:
- captainanndor, on 11/19/2008, -0/+1They parody pop culture and current events. Twilight is, unfortunately, a major player in the pop culture scene right now.
I'm disgusted to even know this, but pre-sale tickets for the movie have demolished all current records, including pre-sales for opening night of The Dark Knight.
So even though most of Digg has never heard of it, it's wildly popular out in the real world... which is inhabited by easily-influenced pre-teen and teenage girls and dissatisfied housewives.

Have you folks even READ the books? Granted, Twilight starts off slow and has a lot of character development, but each book keeps getting better all the way to the end.
Not sure why there are so many hostilities, but maybe you guys should read the series before casting your doubts. It's absolutely fantastic. Maybe it's the 'in' thing right now to hate Twilight. I'll definitely watch the SP episode though. They always parody with style...
And I'm a married 39 year old male heterosexual computer geek... Go figure...- SemiSarcastic, on 11/19/2008, -1/+12You don't have to worry. Hipster scientists have predicted that within three years the popular 'in' thing having to do with hating on popular things will become so over saturated that it will eventually become cliched. - CrackyJSquirrel, on 11/19/2008, -3/+12"And I'm a married 39 year old male heterosexual'...
I think its time to stop kidding yourself. - moothemagiccow, on 11/19/2008, -1/+0I read the first two books and they were dumb - about as cheesy as any other vampire book. My biggest problem is with the pacing and the ***** romantic dialogue. In the first two books there'll be 17 chapters where nothing happens, then something pops up and it's an emergency and it turns out to be the climax. Meyer has no idea about pacing or foreshadowing or building suspense. The lovey dovey dialogue is worse than Attack of the Clones.
- Zyvo, on 11/19/2008, -1/+3I read all of them and I can say with absolute certainty that they were the worst books I have ever read.
- kotn2012, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2"And I'm a married 39 year old male heterosexual computer geek... Go figure..."
You might want to reevaluate that. - captainanndor, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2The writing style is horrible and poorly edited.
The characters are flat and bland and unlikeable.
The story is boring and cliche.
It promotes blind, obsessive, self-destructive relationships targetted at an easily influenced audience.
Basically it ends up being a self-insertion fanfiction. That's exactly the quality of writing you get.
- SemiSarcastic, on 11/19/2008, -1/+12You don't have to worry. - paradigmxx, on 11/19/2008, -3/+3I have no idea what the big deal is about this movie.
- Happy4Meal, on 11/19/2008, -3/+3In other words: South Park to continue doing episodes about everything but their own characters therefore avoiding any plot/character development that might cause their own long-running show to end...
Although I don't mind because I do like the show.- v0ider, on 11/19/2008, -0/+8There's character development. Cartman is fat, Kyle is a Jew, Kenny is poor, and Stan is cool.
- Lochie, on 11/19/2008, -0/+1Maybe that's why it's still awesome after all these years. More than you can say for just about every other TV show on tv at the moment.
- paulvq, on 11/19/2008, -0/+1Isn't that what happened to Family Guy but with flashbacks?
- latinjones, on 11/19/2008, -0/+1Simpsons did it. Did Bart ever make it out of the 4th grade? Was there ever any expectation for South Park to develop it's characters?

- adoggz, on 11/19/2008, -0/+3you know "the light from the sky between full night and sunrise or between sunset and full night produced by diffusion of sunlight through the atmosphere and its dust"
- Syphon8, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2A parody of that would be AWESOME.

- panpizza15, on 11/19/2008, -0/+18Abercrombie & Fitch vampires are a cash cow for 12 year old fan girls who read the fan fic quality book. It's the story of "He's so bad and rebellious but he's nice inside" that makes money.
- MrsRodted, on 11/19/2008, -2/+10Digg me down, but what is Twilight?
- panpizza15, on 11/19/2008, -0/+27Twilight is the time before sunrise, and the time after sunset. Sunlight scattered in the upper atmosphere illuminates the lower atmosphere, and the surface of the Earth is not completely lit or completely dark. The sun itself is not actually visible because it has not yet come over the horizon or it has passed below the horizon.
- rodted2, on 11/19/2008, -5/+1funny, but I think she is referring to the book/movie. besides, I doubt South Park would parody a phase of astrological phenomenon. Although I can't say I would be surprised if they did.
Twilight is a young adult vampire/romance novel written by author Stephenie Meyer. It was originally published in hardcover in 2005. It is the first book of the Twilight series, and introduces seventeen-year-old Isabella "Bella" Swan who moves from Phoenix, Arizona, to Forks, Washington, and finds her life in danger when she falls in love with a vampire, Edward Cullen. The novel is followed by New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn.
Twilight has been adapted into a film by Summit Entertainment. The film was directed by Catherine Hardwicke and stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson as protagonists Isabella Swan and Edward Cullen, respectively. The screenplay was adapted by Melissa Rosenberg. The movie is to be released domestically on November 21, 2008. - leif77, on 11/23/2008, -0/+113 year old girls aren't "young adults."

- jstem1994, on 11/19/2008, -0/+1Thanks. Can’t the kids just do stuff, like make someone eat their parents in chili? Or get hurt fighting w/ ninja weapons and try to cover it up?

- soccerman90, on 11/19/2008, -1/+3when the hell is SP going to make fun of Russia? They did ban them for being immoral and what not. So the logical next step would be to make the most immoral episode possible dealing with russia, they could even involve palin
- DarkoKun, on 11/19/2008, -1/+2Twilight looks pretty stupid. I thought I was missing something but from the posts I see here I can tell Im not. I prefer true blood for my vampire fix.
- highstdawg, on 11/19/2008, -0/+1I'd rather watch an episode of true blood than this crap
