On top of that he gets up right after the accident so good to see he wasn't killed.
And to the younger diggers out there who say "good ***** pigs he shoulda died!!111" let me tell you, back when I was a just a little roastedbagel I too thought all cops were assholes. That all changed when I was hit by a truck who ran a light which caused my car to flip multiple times and trap me inside. You know who was the first person there, before rescue, to jump in and talk to me and make sure I was ok? A cop. While all the other ***** people who stopped and looked and gawked and took pictures, none of them had the decency to come up to me and see if i was ok (this is before the cop came over). ***** people..- PersonalJesus, on 11/09/2008, -19/+63Most Diggers are immature pricks who still live in their parents basement. - burnin8r28, on 11/09/2008, -15/+3Most cops are pricks. Everyone has a different story. My friend was at a party and his designated driver was drinking. He made the decision to prevent a drunk driving accident so he called his dad to pick him up. His dad was completely sober, but drank some nyquil to help his cold. Apparently that was illegal. he was pulled over randomly. The cop could have let him go so his son could get home without dying, but instead he was given a D.U.I.
- GraphiteBlimp, on 11/09/2008, -1/+8You do know that there is a warning on Nyquil bottles that try to prevent people from operating heavy machinery right?
- PsychoDesigns, on 11/09/2008, -0/+7Actually, he slams into the car, not get slammed into by the car.
- cathpah, on 11/09/2008, -1/+7@ burnin8r28
unless he drank the whole damn bottle of nyquil, his father was lying to him. The alcohol content in nyquil is nowhere NEAR enough to put one over the legal limit. In fact, I'm not even sure the alcohol content in the whole bottle would be enough. That is about the oldest excuse in the book, and every cop in the world knows better than that.
p.s. I dislike any ***** cops too (and there are LOTS of them....but a good cop is a good person, and it's an honorable job when done right.)

They stress this a lot in first aid "you're protected legally, do what you can to help, don't hesitate due to legal reasons".
Plus in court the person suing will get nothing but laughed at "oh, sorry, this person prevented you from bleeding out? We can fix that for you..." - jp12380, on 11/09/2008, -1/+1Strangewill what good samaritan law? Where do you live? Is this a law in every US state?
- Myrth, on 11/09/2008, -1/+1strangewill, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Good_Samaritan_law
"To illustrate, a motor vehicle collision occurs, there is no fire, no immediate life threat from injuries, and no danger of a second collision. If a 'Good Samaritan' elects to 'rescue' the victim from the wreckage causing paralysis, a court may rule that Good Samaritan laws do not apply because the victim was not in imminent peril, and hold the actions of the rescuer as 'reckless' and unnecessary." - strangewill, on 11/10/2008, -0/+1Myrth, you fail basic first aid, being as you don't move people unless the situation calls for it, especially in car accidents.

- Elliuotatar, on 11/09/2008, -3/+6Oh yeah? Well I recently heard tires squealing out the window of my third floor apartment, and the instant I heard a crash I was on the phone calling 911, and was told someone else had already called it in. I then went downstairs to check on the guy who'd smashed into a guardrail and there were like five people there already helping the guy. When the cops showed up... I'm sorry, COP... EIGHT minutes later, he got out of his car and stood around for a minute looking around the scene from the middle of the road for some weird reason... probably because he cared more about who was at fault and how it happened than helping the victim... before finally walking nonchalantly over to the guy who needed help.
No ambulance showed up even though I made it clear that a guy had just smashed headon into a guard rail. Apparently if you don't tell 911 that the guy is pouring blood out of his eyesockets, they just assume the person is fine and doesn't need urgent medical attention.
Also, I just got a $55 ticket for parking in a tour bus only zone in Boston even though I was parked at a meter. At 10:30pm. Yet the ***** cops never ticket the ***** that parks for free illegally right behind my car every ***** night for the last year making me do a three point turn every time I need to leave the parking space I have to pay $50 a month to rent.

- AtleticoMadrid, on 11/09/2008, -2/+16This happens all too often when people turn left and right out of residential neighborhoods. They don't even see the bikes coming. I watched 2 squids nearly eat it this morning because they were racing to the next light and someone turned right out of a residential in front of them. Please watch out for the Motorcyclists. We are watching out for you as the driver in car is at fault in nearly 70+% of Motorcycle deaths.
- bnorman, on 11/09/2008, -1/+8Call me crazy, but it sounds like you were implying they were racing, as in speeding to the next light?
- xonkonog, on 11/09/2008, -3/+5car drivers have more blind spots, maybe you should take that into consideration dont just assume they can always see you.
- Bub978, on 11/09/2008, -1/+5Yep, motorcyclists need to ride like they're invisible. I'm very careful around motorcyclists, but I've had a guy ride right in the center of my blindspot (only a motorcycle could hide there, it's too small for a car), and if I hadn't been paying attention I would've had no clue he was there.
If I had changed lanes and hit him, it would've been my fault on paper, so maybe Madrid should reconsider that 70% statistic. - youannoyme, on 11/09/2008, -2/+4"We are watching out for you..." Sounds like he already knows this. Besides, blind spots are an excuse for nothing. Just because you're mirrors don't cover a section doesn't mean you're not responsible for turning your head and looking the old fashioned way...
- Bub978, on 11/09/2008, -0/+3Oh no, I mean BLIND spot. Looked left, couldn't see him. Had to slow down for him to pull up next to me.

- 80hd, on 11/09/2008, -2/+1This is why you always ride with traffic and never against. I hate when bicyclists are on the left side of the road and almost plow into me because I'm expected to check both lanes for oncoming traffic.
- ufia, on 11/09/2008, -0/+1It's safer for bicyclists to ride against traffic, because they can see cars coming. It's even a law in some places, you get a ticket if caught riding your bike with traffic, or in the middle of the road like you were a car.

- rikt, on 11/09/2008, -0/+2I have to disagree with you there. I am in emergency services and 90+% of accidents involving motorcycles, it's the fault of the motorcyclist. How is it a car's fault if they pull out in front of a motorcycle going 30 mph over the speed limit.
Almost without exception, if it's a crotch rocket, they were speed, passing cars, etc and their fault. If it's a big touring bike, harley, etc, it's usually the car's fault.
Draw your own conclusion.

- AMSRay, on 11/09/2008, -0/+5If you are thrown clear of the bike and whatever the bike hits, and you're wearing a helmet your chances are pretty good of surviving it. I've been in an accident almost just like this one and was thrown over the handlebars and landed on my face. If I had been wearing a full coverage helmet I would have had no injuries at all. As it was, I had scrapes on my chin and 5 broken teeth. I had several other accidents as a teenager, most of them my fault from aggressive driving. I never had a broken bone or required medical attention other than the the dental work from that crash. I've also worked track safety at several races at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the 1970's and saw quite a few crashes at 100+ mph where the driver stood up and walked off. The really killer crashes are when you get run over, don't get thrown off, or if you hit a solid object like a wall or tree while on your bike or after you're thrown off. A good helmet and abrasion resistant clothing can save your ass. Bikers don't wear leather just for the looks.

- fafaforza, on 11/09/2008, -0/+3Always wear a full face. Someone I know was riding his Z1K on a quick ride to get a breakfast sandwich. Something happened and he went off the road and wiped out. Had he not done that, he reckons half his face would have been bashed in as he faceplanted into the ground. Instead he only had a cut on the lip.

- Ymeg, on 11/09/2008, -1/+3How?
- dmark77, on 11/09/2008, -1/+7He ran a red light.
Doesn't matter what you think of cops.
Remember that next time you have right of way, and get slammed into. I'll send you flowers to your hospital room. - themonkman, on 11/09/2008, -2/+2How the hell do you know what sort of karma that officer had? My father was a sheriff for nearly 30 years, and during his time on patrol he'd often let people off without even a warning if they were polite. You have no right to judge all police officers. These are the same people who take the murders, rapist, child molesters, drunken drivers, and scum of the earth off of the streets every day. Besides, if your house got burglarized, or you got mugged, shot, stabbed, jumped, I'm sure you'll not be preaching to the police officers about what "karma" they have, will you?
That being said, please go away and allow those of us who are actually intelligent members of the gene pool discuss this video.
- DeFex, on 11/09/2008, -7/+11People who run red lights need to be banned from driving forever, or just shot.
Im surprised its not an SUV, jeep, or civic. most of the assholes drive those.- fafaforza, on 11/09/2008, -1/+0You forgot the brand-new-Euro-import driver - your Mercedes, or BMW 7 series. Those guys are complete asshats on the road.
- DeFex, on 11/09/2008, -0/+2yeah but they temper it a bit because they might scratch their toy

- WELLDOITLIVE, on 11/09/2008, -1/+7I wonder if he got a ticket or just let off with a warning.
- cleverjester, on 11/09/2008, -1/+0My "warning" would have been a punch in the face!
- arlok789, on 11/09/2008, -2/+10Take Driving Seriously. I know that accidents happen but an accident could mean you or somebody you care about dies. Don't drive 5 mph and be terrified, but always be responsible and don't dick around in the car. Don't drive when you are sleep deprived or drunk. Don't text, don't speed excessively, always make sure your tires and brakes are good. Whatever excuse you have for not taking driving seriously at all times isn't worth taking a life.
- uknowwhoibe, on 11/09/2008, -0/+2You, sir, should teach driver's education.
- Eqxy, on 11/09/2008, -0/+11Wow. What kind of ***** idiot just runs a light like that? I don't think a lot of people realize that the 3000lb hunks of metal they control can seriously injure someone. On the other hand, that Cop is a badass for getting right back up after that. He probably ran down the street and kicked the guys ass.
- thesonofdarwin, on 11/09/2008, -0/+3Ask that to the large number of Philadelphians that I see do it every day and those that have the audacity to blow their horn at you because you won't do the same if you are in front of them. My middle finger gets quite a workout on my morning and afternoon drives.
- Elliuotatar, on 11/09/2008, -0/+3You think that's bad... A couple weeks ago, a guy ran a stop sign right outside my window, going about 40mph.
The thing you have to understand though is that the road he was on was a single block, with a T at both ends. Meaning, he turned onto this one block long road, accelerated to 40mph in half a block, and then failed to notice the stop sign and THE BARRIER ACROSS THE ROAD, which he slammed into at nearly full speed after slamming on his brakes and sliding about 25 feet, narrowly missing a telephone pole, and going up onto the sidewalk.
And to top it all off, this collision was right outside a school. And the driver was a kid, which attended this school. So he surely had driven down this side road many times before.

- breakaway, on 11/09/2008, -0/+5***** cagers
- zbeast, on 11/09/2008, -5/+13The driver was either drunk or distracted.
But i'm not sure how you miss a "dead" intersection like that.
(dead intersection are where all the car's around you have all ready stopped.)
I almost had a cop run into the side of my car. I was driving fast and my radar detector when off.
I jumped on the brakes to bring my speed down to standard min... 25mph... the cop who was shooting radar..
thought he was going to swoop out of the driveway from where he was hiding and slide up behind my car.
Thing was I was now drivng 15mph slower.
So when he looked up from his bike acceleration my car door was right in frount of him.
He did a fount wheel stoppie all the way up to my car.
It's didn't matter if he gave me a ticket or not, the look of terror on his face was worth the price of admission.
I drove on, he then pulled out behind me then he just drove off.
I guess he had to go home change his shorts.- 83457, on 11/09/2008, -0/+1close one. Just imagine the story if he did actually hit you
- jp12380, on 11/09/2008, -0/+1He would have been at fault.
- 83457, on 11/09/2008, -0/+1close one. Just imagine the story if he did actually hit you
- Pinkertinkle, on 11/09/2008, -16/+2Thats what he gets for giving out all those traffic tickets.
- paulmer2003, on 11/09/2008, -1/+5Damn, that cop is hardcore. He just gets right up. That's some terminator ***** right there.
Also, ***** anyone who runs redlights (intentionally).- 83457, on 11/09/2008, -0/+1I get tired of people making a right on red, while looking left and without stopping
- ooMARLAoo, on 11/09/2008, -1/+0Such suspense with the music added in.
And don't you just love how the car crossing the intersection continues to drive AFTER he just witnessed the accident right in front of him. - da_bradler, on 11/09/2008, -0/+5I thought for sure that cop was going to get up and run directly at the car and kick the ***** out of the driver. I can imagine he would not be to pleased
- 83457, on 11/09/2008, -0/+1I was waiting for that as well
- jellygraph, on 11/09/2008, -4/+1Buried for being misleading. He doesn't get run over. He drives past a red light and gets hit by an on-coming motorbike. Very different from the perspective of a reasonable person
- adikt, on 11/09/2008, -1/+3Wow, something tells me this dude is going to have an asterisk next to his name in the police database. Good luck next time your pulled over pal.
- redbinary, on 11/09/2008, -0/+3A friend died exactly like that three weeks ago, but instead of a car it was a Ford F-150. Of course no helmet. Good thing the cop survived.
- fafaforza, on 11/09/2008, -0/+2I wouldn't ride without a helmet even if it was legal and the government gave me a tax break on it. I'd see the guys in Pennsylania on Busas and choppers going down the interstate at 75+ and think to myself that all it takes is a bug to the eye or throat for you to lose balance and wipe out. I've taken a bug to my shoulder (wearing a jacket) and it hurt, imagine taking one on the chin.
- whoreable, on 11/09/2008, -0/+2Your friend is a dumbass.
- redbinary, on 11/09/2008, -0/+1was a dumbass. he died, remember? motorcycle + no helmet = FAIL!
- SHUUTOBI, on 11/09/2008, -2/+1Sucks... It seems the driver did not have a dedicated light for his lane, and the truck in the left lane blocked sight of the only light.
Unfortunate for the officer, glad he's OK. - Skrank, on 11/09/2008, -6/+3Not to defend the idiot who ran the red light by any means, but its possible that this could have been avoided by the cop as well. I can't tell because of the camera angle if it even applies in this case due to possible obstructions of vision, but you should always look both ways and NEVER assume someone will stop just because you have the right of way. Same deal when someone has their turn signal on.
- Wisgary, on 11/09/2008, -1/+6Are you an idiot? It's not a "you have the right of way" thing it's a "he has a ***** red light" thing.
- Skrank, on 11/09/2008, -2/+2My bad, I'm sure that your terminology would be found in traffic codes and not mine. If someone has the red light, that gives you the right of way. Please think before you type, or am I asking too much?
P.S.
Don't forget to ***** yourself.
That is all.
- Skrank, on 11/09/2008, -2/+2My bad, I'm sure that your terminology would be found in traffic codes and not mine. If someone has the red light, that gives you the right of way. Please think before you type, or am I asking too much?
- jermm, on 11/09/2008, -0/+1The cop is slamming on the brakes most likely.
- fafaforza, on 11/09/2008, -0/+1We don't know what kind of view the cop had. We don't know that he didn't happen to check his rear mirrors at an inopportune time. We don't know that he wasn't on the brakes and there was oil on the ground, as is usually the case at red lights where cars often come to complete stops.
What we do know is that this guy ran the light, and even if the light was blocked by the dump truck, he didn't proceed with caution, didn't slow down to get in view of the light from a different angle, didn't infer from all of the other cars being stopped that his light was red. - 83457, on 11/09/2008, -0/+1This was in no way the cop's fault.
- Wisgary, on 11/09/2008, -1/+6Are you an idiot? It's not a "you have the right of way" thing it's a "he has a ***** red light" thing.
- MrRobotoSki, on 11/09/2008, -0/+1That guy is in so much trouble. Just wait until they get him down to the station...Alone.
- agentgman, on 11/09/2008, -0/+0wow, I hate to think how bad the ticket's gonna be for running that red light.
