Even with the housing market where it is, you see houses up here sell for $13,000,000. Puts the price of a parking spot in perspective. There is no such thing as recession in Vail, it's called no snow.

Recently a new newspaper was introduced in Vail called the "Vail Mountaineer", by the same people who introduced the Vail Daily years ago. When the Vail Daily became successful, it was bought out, and it has since then turned to *****. The Vail Mountaineer aims to take back what was so great about the Vail Daily years ago, and of course the current owners are pissed. Since then they have been doing things such as pulling ads for non-profit organizations just because the organization also put ads in the Vail Mountaineer, and this is just one example. These people are scumbags.

Flow and distribution of money is a very positive thing for the economy. Some rich playboy buys this spot, which gives the guy that owns the spot a ton of extra spending money, who then goes out and buys goods from YOUR PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT, which keeps the economic engine running.

why, then, is the income gap as big as it is, and and why is it growing exponentially? the middle class must be too busy feeling sorry for itself, squandering all of the opportunities the ruling elite are providing (just look at Kenneth Lay's $10,000 shower curtain! *brought Joe Curtain from rags to riches!)
This frivolous spending just exchanges hands to perpetuate more frivolous spending...
- the goal in these circles is to see who can hoard so much wealth that they're able to buy outrageously-priced, meaningless items -- parading their lavish lifestyle to anyone that cares to notice -- while simultaneously remaining rich enough to maintain their relative position at the top of the ancient socioeconomic ladder thanks to their absurd amount of wealth.
This is not how hard-earned money is spent. This is how money belonging to other people is spent.

If I paid $25 every time I parked during ski season, it would take me 135 years to break even. That is, if I was dumb enough to pay Buzz $500,000 for his parking space!
